Chapter 2

So I'll make this short so you can get to reading the chapter but I wanted to give a special thanks to Mina_Lisly for being the first reader to comment on chapter 1. Waking up to see six notifications about my book was the best way to wake up. If you don't know her I highly recommend you check out her profile. Jade's P.O.V.

     I sat in the back of the class in geometry waiting for the lesson to begin. Mrs. May passed out a worksheet for us to do on our own. I took the sheet and began to work on it right away, hoping to finish it as quickly as possible. I had just started on question two when the door swung open. A boy with brown hair and brown eyes stood in the door frame. It was the same boy from earlier. "Sorry I'm late Mrs. May, I had to get my notebook." He held up a red notebook like it was proof and Mrs. May simply gestured to an open seat. Which happened to be the one next to mine.

     "I'm Josh," he said extending his hand towards me. I stared at it for a momemt before going back to my work. He dropped his hand with an unreadable expression on his face. Mrs. May walked by and handed him a paper. He stared at it for nearly five minutes, not even reaching for his pencil or calculator once. "You do know that staring at it isn't  going to make the answers magically appear on the page, right?" He chuckled a little at my comment and replied,"Won't know unless you try." I sat my pencil down on the desk and stared at number four for a good three minutes. "It's not working," I said with a small smile. He laughed causing everyone in the class to turn to us. Mrs. May shushed us before she continued to grade papers. "You're funny. What's your name?" I smiled and answered,"Jade." He smiled and picked up his pencil saying,"Well Jade, it's nice to meet you."

     The bell rang for us to leave class so I headed to biology. I went to my usual seat in the back and plopped my bag down on the floor. It was only second period and I was already ready to leave. Kids started piling into the classroom but there was only one that caught my eye. It was one of the boys from earlier. Why do they seem to be following me? The boy with black hair plopped down in the desk next to me causing the girl who had been sitting there all year to groan. That is until he smiled at her.

     All signs of irritation vanished from her face leaving a toothy smile and her batting her fake eyelashes. I wanted to gag. "Sorry cutie, but I need this seat." She waved her hand and twirled a strand of her hair saying,"It's fine. It's all yours handsome." He gave her a smirk back and her grin grew even bigger. She left to find another seat but kept bringing her eyes back to the boy now sitting across from me. He tapped his pencil on the desk and said,"I'm Cody. What's your name sweetheart?" I shifted in my seat and scoffed saying,"Wouldn't you like to know." His smirk grew even bigger and he replied,"Actually I already do." "Oh do you now?" I asked turning back to face him. "You wouldn't happen to know Josh now would you? It seems as though you two have first together and he told me what your name was. So sorry sweetheart, but you don't get to taunt me." I rolled my eyes and turned to face the board.

     Just before the bell rang Cody slipped a piece of paper on my desk. "Be there," was all he said before leaving the classroom.  I grabbed the slip of paper and put it into my bag before leaving the class as well. The rest of the day carried on smoothly and I didn't see the boys again. Finally the bell for seventh period rang and I left the school as quickly as I could, walking back to my apartment. I pulled the piece of paper from my bag and read it. Meet us at the park at midnight. I re-read the note seven times before putting it back into my bag.

     Do they really expect me to meet them in a deserted park at midnight? With no one around to help me if they try to kidnap me. With me having no idea who they really are. The same guys who said I was cute earlier in the day. These are the thoughts my mind was racing with and then it settled on one I didn't want to agree with. Of course I am. Why? Because I am a total idiot who seems to love to put myself in trouble.
