2: A New Home

Pein's POV:

Flashback

When Konan and I were just coming back from a stroll outside of the village, we came by a band of rogues, seemingly chasing someone down.

I nodded to Konan, and we hid ourselves in the foliage. What we saw then, surprised us, though I would never admit it.

There were two young girls, seemingly sisters, who were the target of the rogues. Konan was about to jump in and help, when I noticed the older girl doing something. I held my hand out, motioning to keep hidden, as a water bubble surrounded them.

'This will be interesting,' I thought, as we approached them. I noticed the younger girl now asleep, and her sister studying us.

Konan took care of the introductions, and after a while, Tsukino said the words I was waiting for, "Sure, we will join you."

End of Flashback

Tsukino's POV

We just got here, and Konan showed us to our room. I had specifically asked for us to share a room, since Usagi and I are almost never separated. I set her down on the bed and set down our bags.

"Do you need to wash up?" Konan asked me, with a kind smile on her face. "When Usagi-chan wakes up," I replied. She nodded and pointed towards the bathroom before leaving.

I let out a long sigh and leaned down on the bed next to Usagi. This is sure going to be interesting. I feel a smile tug on my lips as I see her innocent figure snuggling into the blankets.

I want her life to be as safe and happy as possible, and maybe I can accomplish that here, making everyone like her family.

Sighing, I got up and walked over to our bags. I pulled out both of our clothes and placed them in the dresser drawers, and getting Usagi's weapons pouch out. She really should wear it for just in case scenarios, but it's okay. I set it down on the nightstand and continued unpacking.

The last two items I took out was my locket. It was a silver perfect circle with a crescent moon on the front. Inside, I store some of my power there for emergencies, since otherwise Chaos's power would overwhelm me. I clasped it around my neck and went to put the bags away.

When I came back, Usagi was already up. "Morning," she said, with the sleepiness still in her eyes.

I laughed at how cute she looked and said, "Morning, I found us a place to stay and hopefully a family to take care of us, so now, do you want to get ready for a bath?"

Her eyes instantly sparkled with hope and the innocence I loved about her, and she hopped off of the bed, shouting, "Yes! Yes!" I lead her to the bathtub, and turned on the warm water. I helped her get undressed and prepared her new clothes.

When the water was ready, she plopped right in, and I started scrubbing. At some point, I had finished and she looked completely new. Blond hair no longer having streaks of mud in it, and skin a pale peach.

After she got dressed, I tucked her in to bed, and planted a kiss on her forehead. Next, I prepared the shower. Better get myself cleaned up too.
