Charlotte
I felt Luca's eyes burrowing into me as I lay still, trying to pretend I was asleep. If I never got out of bed, the day would just disappear and never happen, right? Today was my thirtieth birthday, and for the last few weeks, I dreaded it.
Luca started talking about it months ago, as if it were some kind of national holiday or something. He tricked me years ago when he was so standoffish about celebrating Christmas. Apparently birthdays were completely different, and he'd told me so at least a dozen times. I wanted nothing to do with celebrating, but he was having none of that. I made him swear up and down he wasn't getting me anything and didn't have any extravagant plans, and so far, he agreed. The only downside to that was that I was married to a man who made a career out of lying to people, so I really had no idea what to expect.
I wasn't sure what time it was, but I knew it was early. Early enough that none of our children were up, and that was a minor miracle itself. Leo and Cole, especially, were always up around six. Layla was learning to sleep in a bit more, but I knew it wouldn't be long before she was bounding here as well. She'd inherited Luca's love of celebrating birthdays, and she wouldn't be able to contain herself.
If the kids were still sleeping, I wanted to take full advantage and sleep in, if only a few more minutes, but Luca's erection pressed into my thigh told me he had different ideas.
"I can feel you staring at me." I mumbled, a smile tugging at my lips as I snuggled down into the covers.
"I'm just trying to see if you look older." I could almost hear the smile on Luca's face in his voice. He thought he was pretty funny, but I wasn't as amused.
"That's not very nice." I pouted. He knew getting older was a sore subject for me. I tried to deny it for a long time, but this year was even worse. Something about being out of my twenties dug the dagger in even worse. He teased me endlessly about in the last few weeks, having no idea why I was so upset.
"Oh, I think I see a new wrinkle." Luca ran his finger over the space between my eyes.
"Luca!" I shrieked, pulling the pillow out from under my head and whacking him with it. He ducked out of the way, chuckling. I went to do it again, but he ripped it out of my hands, gripping my wrists in his palm and securing them over my head.
"Careful, baby." He gave me an aggressive kiss and then dragged his teeth across my bottom lip. "You'll wake the kids up before I have a chance to start your birthday off right."
"I'm not celebrating my birthday, remember?" I teased, fighting against his strong grasp on my wrists, but I was no match for his strength.
"Too bad." He smirked, his fingers finding their way to the band of my pajama shorts as he kissed me again. As he pulled my shorts down painfully slow, his eyes were locked on mine, almost taunting me. "I had big plans for you."
"Well, I mean, maybe we can celebrate a little." I blushed, unable to resist him. It was a losing battle because I wanted it just as much as he did.
Luca was a magician. He knew exactly what to do to make me squirm, and was always determined to push me to my absolute limit. He knew every inch of me, every tickle and sensitive spot, every curve and freckle, and he paid attention to each of them equally. He never left an inch of me untouched or unloved. I didn't mind his domineering personality in bed. In fact, I welcomed it. Something about how authoritative and commanding he could be made me feel even more secure. Free to be vulnerable. Free to be exactly who I was. I was completely at his will, but I had never felt safer or more connected to him than I did in these moments.
"Thats my girl." Luca gave me a wicked grin. If celebrating my birthday meant spending the morning in bed with my hot husband, attending to my every whim, I could definitely be on board with it.
