I leaned against the wall of the hospital room with a big, goofy grin plastered on my face as I watched Charlotte and Marco and Angelo laughing and joking with each other. What they had pulled off the last few weeks was nothing short of miraculous, and I couldn't even put into words how I felt about it all. There was no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for the three of them.

Charlotte and I had been here for a few hours, and Marco and Angelo came over as soon as they could. I didn't expect how emotional my reunion with them would be as well. There were definitely tears, but I don't think anyone of us would admit it.

There weren't words adequate enough to thank them for what they'd done for me, and how they had taken care of my family when I was gone. I knew from experience Charlotte wasn't the easiest person to handle when she was set on something, but I guess this just proved that there was something to be said for a woman's intuition. None of this would've happened if she didn't refuse to believe I was dead—and if they hadn't indulged her.

While Charlotte and I dealt with Niko outside, Marco got the rest of our under covers out and Angelo coordinated the attack. The whole thing lasted less than six minutes. Without Niko coordinating them, no one knew what to do, and Angelo and the rest of our man quickly overtook them and released all the prisoners.

In another interesting turn of events, Charlotte insisted that Serena be brought to the hospital with us. She was a few rooms away from us now, resting and recuperating and would be on a flight to Germany as soon as she was well enough to travel. Like always, Charlotte's compassion won out, and she said she understood Serena on a deeper level after seeing everything she'd gone through firsthand. Not taking any chances this time, I had armed guards posted at her bedside and door who would personally escort her to the airport and out of our lives as soon as they could.

From the moment we got here, I hadn't been able to take my hands off of Charlotte. Not even in the usual sexual way, but because I felt like if I let go of her, we might be separated again.

I sat beside her, anxiously holding her hand the entire time that the doctor checked her out. She wasn't physically hurt besides a few cuts and bruises, but I knew her wounds would be more mental than physical. It wasn't until she was completely cleared that I even let someone look at my wounds, and only then it was at Charlotte's insistence. She threatened to put another bullet in me if I didn't let them take out the one that was already there, and after watching the precision with which she shot Niko, I wholeheartedly believe her.

Now, I was completely patched up and thoroughly enjoying just being in the company of my wife and friends. It felt good to be laughing and joking with them again, especially as they regaled me with stories of everything that had gone on over the last few weeks. There was certainly something to be said for the small things.

"Alright, you guys better go." Charlotte finally said, raising her eyebrows. "Luca needs to get some rest."

"Well, that's code for I want to bang my husband if I ever heard it..." Angelo winked in my direction.

"Aw, mom, five more minutes!" Marco smirked, playfully teasing her.

"You guys are ridiculous." She laughed, shaking her head. "Get out of here. We'll see you in the morning."

"Yes, ma'am." Angelo joked.

"And you," she turned to Marco. "Go fix things with Hailey."

Hailey? Like my UC Hailey? She and Marco? Angelo and I shared a confused glance.

"How did you..." Marco stared blankly at Charlotte.

"Don't look at me like that." She smirked. "Of course, I know. I know everything." Her voice hinged slightly on the word everything. There was definitely something strange going on.
