"That doesn't mean she had to go and listen!" Dad yelled.
"What is the problem? I was gonna find out anyways," I said, coming forward.
"The problem? The problem is you eavesdropped in something you weren't supposed to hear!"
"Why are you getting so worked up about this?" I asked.
Just then something weird happened. Dad's eyes were changing. Green to brown. Brown to gold. Gold to blue. And back again.
"Dad? What's wrong?" I asked.
A hand lightly touched my shoulder. Nick. "His wolf his beyond mad. He's changing. We need to get him inside so no one will see it."
I nodded and grabbed one of Dad's arms. Nick grabbed the other. We pulled him inside and down to the basement.
We ran upstairs quickly and closed the door shut. Nick locked it to make sure Dad doesn't get out. We huffed as walked into the kitchen.
"So what now?" I asked.
"We wait."
I didn't need to be told to wait for what. I already knew. We have to wait until he turns back into human form. We waited for hours. By nine o'clock, we finally heard a knock from the basement door and my dad yelling, "Someone open this goddamn door!"
Nick and I ran to the door and quickly unlocked it. I swung the door open and my dad came into view. He looked sweaty, worn out, and in pain. I flung my arms around him and hugged him tight. He groaned softly and pulled me off him. I frowned.
"Let me go lay down for a few and then you can hug me, okay?"
I nodded. He gave me a small smile and walked upstairs, slightly limping and holding his arm.
"What do you think happened down there?" I asked Nick.
He shrugged. "No idea."
We went to our rooms for lights out, but I couldn't sleep. Not after today's events. I still can't believe it, though. Me? A werewolf? Just not possible. A few minutes later, I ended up falling asleep on that thought.

That morning when I woke up, I totally forgot everything that had happened the day before. That is until I walked into the kitchen and saw my dad sitting there in his pajamas, drinking his coffee and everything came running back. "I'm a werewolf," I blurted.
My dad sighed and sat his coffee cup down. "Yes, you are. I was gonna tell you soon but I guess that didn't happen."
I just nodded.
"This all started when I was-" he stopped abruptly.
I had raised my hand to stop him. He stared at me with wide eyes, mouth agape.
"I'm sorry. I need to get ready for school. Can you tell me another time?"
He blinked once and nodded. "But there's something you should know."
"What's that?" I said.
He closed his eyes as thought he had a headache and took a deep breath. He muttered something that I didn't hear.
"What?" I said.
He took a deep breath, eyes still closed and muttered, "I killed your mother."
"No," I whispered, holding back tears.
Dad opened his eyes and looked at me. "Sam, I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt her but it was to protect you and your brother."
"How could you?" someone said behind me.
