My eyes grew wide and my jaw dropped.

"That can't be true," Nick said. "If Sam's part werewolf/part vampire, then I am too."

"No, you're not," Dad said.

Nick furrowed his eyebrows together in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, Victoria's not your real mother."

Nick's face fell. "So your saying..."

"That your adopted, yes," Dad said.

Nick closed his eyes and clenched his hands.

I frowned. "Okay, so I'm the hybrid. Who's the Feared One?"

My mom smiled. "I am. I am the Feared One."

"What?!" I nearly yelled.

"I am the Feared One and you're the hybrid that's in the prophecy," Victoria said.

"So why do you have me here?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"So you can join me."

I laughed. I couldn't help it. Anger flashed in her eyes.

"You really think I'm going to join you after what you did to us?" I asked, astonished.

She stayed silent.

"Well, guess again, Mother. I'm not joining you. Never in a million years."

She sighed. "I really wish you didn't say that," she said.

"Why?" I asked.

"If you don't join me, I have to kill you," she said.

Sam's Dad POV

The moment I heard Victoria say she has to kill Sam, anger flared through me. Then I felt something stir inside. My wolf.

Hello, old friend, I thought to him.

No time for talk. Let's get that bitch before she touches Sam! he screamed. I agreed. Just as I was about to let him take control, I saw that Sam beat me to it.

Sam's POV

When my mother, my own frigging mother, said she has to kill me, anger boiled inside me. I have never been this angry neorealism. It felt like everything was on fire. Then something extraordinary and terrifying happened. I transformed into a wolf. Since I was standing in front of the mirror, I saw the color and beauty of the wolf. Pure white. From the stories my dad has told me, they're the most rarest and powerful wolves ever.

Finally, someone said. It sounded like a she.

Who are you? I asked it.

I am sorry. I am Scarlett. Your wolf, she said.

I gasped. My wolf. My dad has always told me about werewolves and their legends, even though I've never believed him. He has said the wolf will come at the age of seven but you won't shift until sixteen years of age.

They're true, you know, my wolf said.

Then why didn't you show up at the age of seven? I asked.

Since you're half-vampire, it took me awhile, considering you would never get angry. Now quit chatting and get that bitch!

Unfortunately, I agreed with her. I turned my attention back to my mother, who was already positioned in a pouncing stance. I dipped my head and snarled menacing at her. It had no effect. I growled and ran to her. I jumped and bit her neck. She screamed and grabbed my stomach. She threw me to the ground, which made my head bounce off the floor. As I got up, I quickly glanced at Nick and my dad. I gave the a slight nod that only they could see. Nick clenched his hands angrily and transformed into his wolf. Dad was already into his wolf and began attacking the guards.

When I was back on my feet, I looked for my mother, but she was nowhere to be seen. She had fled. I turned back to my dad and brother and helped them. After tearing fifty heads off, we were running through the forest.

I now discovered the color of my dad's and brother's wolves. My dad's was pitch black and Nick's was a reddish-brown color. I howled happily. Running was great.

We slowed as we reached our yard. I was about to shift when I realized Trevor wasn't with us.

We left Trevor behind, I whined.

Look behind you, sweetheart, Trevor said in my head.

I turned and saw Trevor standing on a tree branch. I yelped in joy. Then I remember he was a vampire. My joy vanished. I looked at him one last time and trotted away to my house. I was about to shift to my human form when I saw Nick shift and he was naked! Ge walked behind a tree and walked out with clothes on.

I whined softly. He looked at me confused. Realization crossed his face. He made a motion for me to wait and went inside. A few minutes later, he came out and put the clothes behind a tree. I ran over to the tree and finally shifted into human form. I grabbed the clothes and hurriedly put them on.

The treses swayed as the wind blew. i caught the most amazing smell ever, like a chocolate caramel smell.

Mate! my wolf screamed in my head. I turned to where the smell was the strongest. I saw bright blue eyes in the dark as though they were glowing. We looked at each other for a few minutes and then the wolf turned and walked away.
