 two months later

Sadie

“Harry's solo still makes me cry, and it's been a whole two months and everything” Alina says. I lean back in my beanbag chair and take another piece of popcorn from the bowl between us.

“No kidding” I say, before tossing the piece of popcorn in the air and catching it in my mouth.

“Ten points!” Alice crows, grinning. I pick up another piece of popcorn from the bowl, take careful aim, and let it fly. It hits Alice right in the center of the forehead. Execution style, you know, if it had been a bullet. “Gee, thanks” Alice grumbles. Alina reaches over, picks the popcorn out of her sister's lap, and pops it in her mouth.

“Nice aim, Sadie” she tells me, grinning.

“That was kinda just a little bit nasty” Alice says, but she's grinning as well. Alice and Alina are twins, and they'd be identical if Alice hadn't cut her hair and dyed it orange. Alice is definitely an individual and won't let anyone tell her otherwise; even genetics.

“Whoah, did you see that?” Alina asks suddenly. She's staring intently at the TV, like it will tell her the whereabouts of Harry Styles. Alina was in love with Harry Styles, back before he left One Direction. She cried when we heard the news. Honestly, it made me sad too, but just because he's an amazing singer. Every time Alina hears the name Harry, she flips out and goes ballistic on whoever said it. And more often then not at our school, they're only talking about Harry Potter.

“What?” Alice asks, her brow furrowed.

“One Direction's coming here!” Alina says. “It's, and I quote, 'a surprise visit to New York city, a small concert, invite-only.'”

“How do you get an invite?” Alice asks, her eyes lighting up. We've been trying to go to a One Direction concert ever since the X-Factor, honestly. And yeah, we're Americans, but Alina has this weird England obsession, and we still watch the UK X-Factor every night. We were probably the first American One Direction fans.

“You know them personally or something” Alina says, sounding almost disgusted.

“Or you win a contest” I say offhandedly, and the reaction to my words would seem crazy to anyone else but is rather normal to me.

“Ohmygodnowayyou'vegottobeflackingkiddingmehowdoyouentersignmeup!” Alina says, talking so fast that I'm amazed I understood her, and I've known the girl for years.

“And your parents are going to go for this?” I ask her, cocking an eyebrow. Alice narrows her eyes at me. I have that weird genetic talent where I can raise one eyebrow, and Alina and Alice are both insanely jealous. Ha.

“Right” Alina says, deflating quite a bit.

“Sneak out” Alice says softly. We both look at her, wide-eyed and terrified. Alice seems like the rebel type to people that don't know her, but she never defies her parents. They're like the ultimate authority for her.
