“Harry's here” Louis says, and I swear, my heart stops for a second.
Harry's here?
Edward.
“Here, where?” I ask, just to make sure I'm right.
“Here, New York” Louis says. “That's why the concert was here. We wanted to give him a chance to come back, but he's not coming back.”
“He was here” I say slowly.
“Was?” asks Louis nervously.
“When you walked into this coffee shop, he left” I say urgently. He has to understand this right now; for some reason, it's really important to me. “You guys bumped into each other. He said sorry.”
“Holy shite” Louis says. He looks straight into my eyes. “You're sure?”
“He was blond” I say. “But he had Harry's accent and Harry's eyes. And I thought it wasn't him because, you know, what are the odds Harry would be in New York? But he is.”
Louis stands up so abruptly that his chair falls over, causing someone to rush to the counter from the back of the shop.
“Are you alright?” the cashier asks. Louis doesn't even look at her.
“We've got to find him” he says to me. “He just left, right? That means we could still find him.” I don't want to tell Louis that he's wrong. We've got no chance. But I just glance at the cashier, send her an apologetic nod, and follow him out of the shop.
It's raining, pretty hard. It doesn't stop Louis. He starts running up the street, through the crowds, shouting Harry's name. I follow him for a block or two, and then he just stops.
He turns to me. “He's gone” he says, his voice hollow.
Broken.
“Come on” I whisper, and, impulsively, I grab his hand. He doesn't seem to notice or care as I pull him back to the coffee shop. By the time we get back, we're both soaked through, and the cashier has retreated back to the back of the shop. Louis drops into the seat closest to the door.
“He was here” he whispers. “We were so close.”
“What do you want me to do?” I ask him. His eyes meet mine.
“Get him to come back” he whispers. “I don't care how you do it. Just get him back.”

By the time Paul finds us on the roof, we're both soaked. I don't care, and I don't think Zayn does, either. But Paul doesn't seem angry at us. He looks more worried then anything else.
