Lean Fontanelle POV:

My day has just begun....

"Our Datu will choose a girl whom he should marry in this town!" One of the soldier announced. "All of the ladies should gather here in the plaza once and for all. In a few moment, our Datu will come out to meet you young ladies." The soldier added.

"But it's already dark, why we should wait that far? When in fact, he can be here now?" Everyone is expecting for Datu's arrival and now the ladies are complaining about it. Those girls are standing so close to me. Unaware if they already push me from behind. Just for them to get a better place to sight the coming of the datu. And possibly get a chance to flirt with him.

The soldiers aligned in front of us and it seems their guarding something. Their serious, and not moving even just a bit. Their trained to stand like that and never cared about us waiting for the arrival of their Datu. Its not that I cared about it, but my goodness I am standing for almost one hour here?! And all I could hear is some practical joke found only in a movie?! That is absurd! Well, marrying a stranger is a suck thing that I ever heard in my whole life. I thought it was just a funny jokes found in some corny books. I wanted to laugh but the guards would look at me in a serious way. And so I keep my mouth shut.

The soldier's really gathered us here for that silly announcement? Huh! That so silly. Why can't their Datu find the woman he should marry? Instead of choosing some of the ladies as his future bride?

Oh! Its my fault anyway. How can I missed it! The reasoned why I managed to be here its because I really wanted to know what's interesting announcement that they wanted to tell us. I'm curious and being curious as I am. I slump in this rotten mansion in where guards are guarding us. Not letting us out of their sight.

"My God I have no interest in it! If only they said it clearly, I shouldn't be here in the first place anyway. Stupid of my curiosities!"

"Because our Datu is very busy now a days, he must prepare something for his bride to be." The guard continued to explain. Honestly, it didn't matter to me.

All the girls were very excited I can see it to their eyes. "I wonder why?"

I heard some women murmuring about the datu choosing a bride.
"Hopefully, I would be the future bride of our Datu." Their grinning ear to ear. Their very excited about it. What's with these woman?

Another lady murmured something to the other ladies. "No! I should be the one, not you!" I couldn't believe what I just heard. A girl that lives in the province could possibly said those words?! I thought that a province girl should never act like that. I believe that a girl should preserve herself for the man that she loves. But it turns out that all of my conclusions went wrong. I am a traditional woman and marrying a stranger is not my dream. I wish to marry for love, only for love.

I decided to end up this night. It's already 5 pm and I promised to my grandparents to return home before five. I'm getting bored. Time to go home. Honestly, I really wanted to go home. I missed my grandparents very much and I'm afraid if something will happen to them. Considering their age needs someone's guidance. They once guide me when I was younger and now is my time to repay them for their gratitude towards me. At least that's what I thought.

There's are a lot of ladies here, so I guess I'll no longer important. It would be best if I should leave. Less competitors, less problem.
