I just learned a bunch of interesting historical facts:
-Hercules Mulligan was in fact 3 years older than Thomas Jefferson, 14 years older than John Laurens, 16 years older that Aaron Burr, and 17 years older than Alexander Hamilton and Marquis de Lafayette, and lived to be the oldest at 85!
-Lafayette was youngest of these six, by 9 months
-John Laurens was only 28 when he died
-Lifespan From Longest to Shortest:
Hercules Mulligan, 85
Thomas Jefferson, 83
Aaron Burr, 80
Marquis de Lafayette, 77
Alexander Hamilton, 47
John Laurens, 28
-Levi Weeks, the man accused in the first murder trial of America, was acquitted after only five minutes of deliberation by the Jury when a witness testified he was with his brother at the time of the murder, despite other witnesses testifying that Weeks and the victim, a woman who claimed she was going to be married to him in secret that night, together, and him being seen making measurements of the well where her body was found. This decision was so unpopular that the people ostracized him and forced him out of New York. He later became a well-respected architect and builder in Natchez, Mississippi, where he settled.
-Lafayette was a wealthy orphan, who joined the French army at 14, married a relative of the king at 16, and was a high ranking officer in the US army before the age of 20.
