Mackenzie's POV

I don't know how I ended up in detention. I just did. I don't even talk in class. Come to think of it, I don't talk at all when I am in school. The fact that I don't have any friends doesn't improve the situation. Anyway, I was in detention, minding my own bussiness, when the teacher in charge spoke up:

"As punishment you all have to write a 10 page project on feudalism" the whole class groaned."Make that a 15 page project and return it to me in 1 week. Also, you'll have to do it in pairs" he added before sitting down on his chair. I sighed and looked around to see if anyone was willing to be my partner. As expected everyone else had already found a partner. Oh well, I was better off doing it on my own.
"Hey" I heard someone say. I turned around only to see Johnny Orlando smiling down at me. "Oh no" I thought. "Anyone but him". He was the biggest player in my school. With his perfect hair and pearly teeth, he was the perfect candidate for the role.
"Want to partner up?" He asked with a smirk. Since I didn't have much of a choice, I shrugged and put on my headphones so that he didn't talk to me. I should have thought it through, though, because the next thing I knew he's dangling the aux cord of the headphones, which I had on the desk, not plugged into anything.
"What song are you listening to?" He asked, mocking. I yanked the aux cord from his hand and stuffed it into my pocket. Just then, the teacher dismissed us. I sighed in relief and started packing up, when Johnny left a note on my desk "Tonight at 6pm. My house" he said shortly. While he walked away, I opened and read the note. It had his phone number and his adress. I scoffed, although I couldn't help but admire his cheek.
A few hours later I was in front of his house, holding my phone tightly as I knocked on the door. Johnny's twin sister answered, Lauren. She had always been one of the popular girls. That was one of the things I envied most about her. The other were the eyes, beautiful emerald ones.
"May I help you?" She asked politely. I nodded my mouth to talk, but just then, Johnny's head peeped through the door
"You're here!" He said. "Clearly" I thought.
"Come in" He added. I made my way inside and smiled to Lauren a little bit. She smiled back and went upstairs.
"You look good"he said with his usual smirk. See? This is what I meant. He was too flirty even though he had a girlfriend.
"Don't you have a girlfriend?" I asked.
"Who cares about girlfriends?" He replied. I stared at him in disbelief.
"Um, you have one, so you should" He glanced at me and started walking towards the living room. Once we got there, I sat down on a sofa. Johnny plopped down right next to me, so close, our shoulders were touching. I scooted a bit to the side so that we weren't in contact, but he caught on and moved too, resulting in us touching again. This went on until I was on the edge of the sofa. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that, and when I scooted a bit more, I came crashing to the ground. I groaned, and once I got my hair out of my face, I could see Johnny laughing his ass off. I smiled and laughed a bit too. Maybe he's not that bad. He seemed much nicer and approachable. He stopped laughing and lend me a hand.
"Need help?" He asked, a smug look on his face. The old Johnny was back. I ignored his hand and got up on my own.
We had been working for a good 2 hours, when Johnny started fanning himself with a sheet of paper.
"Man, it's getting hot in here. Mind if I take off my shirt?" He asked
"Actually, I would" I thought, but I chose to glare at him, in the hopes he would take the hint
"Shirts are overrated, anyways." He said. I looked at him in disbelief.
"Like what you see?" He mocks me. I blushed and looked away.

It was around 9 o'clock when I got up and said I had to leave. As I was reaching the entrance of the house, he asked:
"How about a hug?"
"Put on your shirt and I'll think about it" I responded. He approached me, thankfully with his shirt on. He hugged me while I patted him awkwardly on the back. By the way I'm a very awkward person. Kind of random and irrelevant. Anyways, when he pulled away, he just dead into my eyes. Another awkward moment.
"Um...bye" I muttered as I broke away from his gaze. I walked out the door and sighed in relief. I didn't want to see Johnny anytime soon, although I knew we'd have to get together again sometime to finish the project. On my walk home I thought that maybe Johnny was nicer on the inside. Oh well, we'll see.
