Chapter 12

Johnny's POV
I can't believe it. First, we start with the nicknames. Then, he invites her on a date (which I successfully ruined). But, he isn't satisfied with that, no. He invites her on another date and fucking kisses her. What happend to the shy awkward girl I knew? I was the one supposed to take her on dates and kiss her, not that Brandon guy. I was too concentrated in my thoughts to hear the front door of my house opening. I also didn't hear the footsteps going up to the second floor where my room was located. But, what I did hear, was her voice. And Lauren's. I overheard them talking about having a movie night. Fuck. I didn't need Kenzie near me for now. I'll just stay in my room for the whole night talking with Hayden or something.

My afternoon was pretty much uneventful. I was basically laying in my bed with my phone. I decided to get down to the kitchen to grab a snack or something. What are the odds of me running into Mackenzie? But the odds decided on not listening to me that day.
When I was in the kitchen, I heard Kenz's voice saying something about grabbing a drink. No, no, no, no. Think, Johnny, think. I threw myself to the floor behind the counter. Stupid, right? I was closing my eyes, praying that she didn't find me.
"Johnny? What are you doing down there? Are you okay?" I heard the voice I was at the same time waiting and dreading to hear.
"I was just looking at an ant. There are pretty interesting, you know?" Ladies and gentlemen, here we have Johnny Orlando the fuckboy of the school talking about ants with a girl. Why am I such an idiot.
"Okayyy." Kenz said, probably worrying about my sanity. Suddenly a noise came from her phone. Her screen turned on and I could see from who that message came from. Brandon❤. Or atleast that's how Kenz saved him on her phone. Ughhh. Why can't I have a heart too? Okay Johnny. Snap out of it. It's just a heart, right? It doesn't mean they are dating, right?.
"Who are you texting?" I said, playing dumb.
"Brandon. We were planning on hanging out soon. He is really fun to be with." She explained.
"Oh." I didn't know what else to say. Wait. I have a plan. "Kenz?" I called her.
"Yeah?"
"Would you maybe like to go to the movies with me tomorrow? You don't have to go if you don't want to and we can watch whatever movie you want and I-" I began to rant.
"Yes."
"Wait. Yes?"
"Yes."
"Really?"
"Yes."
I don't know what took over me but I was suddenly hugging her. My hands were placed on her waist, pressing her near me. At first she was hesitant, but then she wrapped my arms my torso. We stayed like that until my sister came and ruined the moment.
"Hey loverbirds!" She entered the kitchen, shouting. Quickly we brake our embrace and act as if nothing happend. I awkwardly escape Lauren's gaze and went to my room.
Uh, no.
I forgot to get a snack.

I was on my way to pick up Kenz from her house to go to the cinema. We were going to watch Spiderman Homecoming. Turns out that Kenz loves Marvel so we decided on watching that one.

We had already finished watching the movie, and we were standing outside the  cinema.
"So, did you like the movie?" I asked her, trying to create a conversation.
"Yeah, I did." She answered me. We were standing there, just looking at each other's eyes. I found my self leaning in and Kenz too. I lifted my hand up to her cheek. Suddenly her phone started ringing and interrupted our moment. And for the second time this day I cursed. Fuck.
"Brandon?" I heard Kenz saying. You've got to be kidding me. Did Brandon ever left her alone? I was thinking really hard I didn't listen to what they were talking.
"Sorry. Brandon wanted to know if I was free tomorrow."
"Seriously, Kenz? You need to sort your priorities. I can't do this anymore. You need to choose. I'm sorry."
And with that I left.
