Mackenzie's POV

I put down my phone and stared at the blank ceiling of my bedroom, lying on my bed. I had just texted Johnny to see if he was free that afternoon, to finish the project. He was, and we both agreed to meet up at my house at 6 o'clock. I looked around my room, only to find a mess of clothes o the floor. I sighed, but got up, determined to clean it before Johnny arrived. Hey, it's not that I was going to clean my room for Johnny. I just like having my room organised when people come over, which is... never. Anyways, I cleaned my room in about thirty minutes, and just in time, as well, because when I had just put away the last of my shirts, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" shouted Maddie, my older sister. 'NO!' I thought. I made my way downstairs as fast as I could, but apparently, not fast enough.

"Mackenzie invited me over" I heard Johnny say. I bit my lip. Maddie got there before me! Surely she would ask me questions about him, hopefully after he left. I took a minute to compose myself and straightened my shirt. I walked to the door and greeted him:

"Hi. Come in" he did, and Maddie looked at me inquisitively when Johnny had his back turned to her. I shot her a 'LEAVE' glance. She shrugged and headed to the kitchen.

"We'll finish the project in the living room" I mumbled and started to make my way towards there. He followed me and sat on the sofa once we got to the living room. I did not want to repeat the whole episode that went down at his house. The one where I sat down next to him and he would keep scooting closer and closer to me, until I fell off the couch. I decided to stick with an armchair located next to the sofa where Johnny was sitting.

We had been working for quite a bit, when Johnny suddenly said:

"I'm going to break up with my girlfriend" I almost choked on the sandwich I was eating.

"How is this relevant?" I asked. He shrugged.

"Just thought you ought to know" I looked at him strangely, but he had already turned his attention back to the project. What did he mean by that? The fact that we're partners doesn't make us friends... does it? 'Maybe he was hinting he might be interested in dating you because of his availability' a little voice whispers in my head. I dismiss the thought immediately, for someone of his status tends to socialize with other popular people. I'll admit, I did get taken aback by this, although I don't know why, since players are usually like that. I shook my head and continued working.

"Finally, we finished it!" Johnny exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. I smiled a little, as well.

"Wanna watch a movie?" I proposed shyly.

"There is still some time left until 8 o'clock"

"Sure. Do you have popcorn?" he asked. I nodded.

We decided on a comedy movie, not scary or cliche. Without thinking I had sat down on the couch, not the armchair. I took notice of this the second Johnny sat down next to me. I thought it would seem impolite to change from the sofa to the chair, since it could seem like I didn't want want to sit next to him., which I did not, so I had to suck it up until the end of the movie. Everything turned out okay. He wasn't touchy-touchy and I actually ended up enjoying the movie.

Finally, Johnny left, and the minute I closed the door, Maddie appeared.

"Who was that boy?" she asked, not very nicely.

"His name is Johnny, we're just doing a project together" I responded, rolling my eyes. Big sisters can be such a pain in the ass.

"Do you like him?" He seemed pretty cute" she said, and raised her eyebrow. I scoffed and turned my back to her.

"I don't like people just because they're cute" I walked to my room and closed the door. I could feel my cheeks burning up. I got angry at myself for blushing. I had absolutely no reason to do so! One thing is for sure. I wasn't blushing because I liked him, because I don't! Besides, he's not my type. Well, honestly, I don't even know if I have a type. Whatever, I'll figure it out someday
