Nadia's POV
Don't get me wrong. Johnny seems like a great guy. Just, not the best boyfriend. I know we rushed it a bit, but I at least thought he would put some effort in the relationship. Or pretend he actually cares. But I can see right through him. He doesn't like me for my personality, only for my pretty face . Hey, I'm not stuck up, just have confidence. Something that Mackenzie girl doesn't have. I can tell by the way she walks with her head down, trying to blend in with the backround. But she is too pretty to be unnoticed. I've heard the boys talk about her. They say she's cute, but a bit weird. I think she's just shy. I used to be that way, but I changed. I got out of my shell and everyone thought I was really nice. When I moved, I was devastated. I had to start over at a new school, with different people and teachers. It's been really stressful for the past couple of months, for my parents got divorced. My mother won custody over me. I don't mind, neither of them pay much attention to me.
"Nadia, are you listening to me?" Danielle demanded. I snapped out of my absorption and looked down on the girl talking to me. She narrowed her really made up eyes at me.
"Were you even listening to me?" She asked. I shook my head, for honesty is the best policy. She sighed.
"I was saying, are you really dating Johnny?" She repeated herself. I shook my head.
"Well, I'm his ex. So back off honey, cause I'll get him back in a couple of weeks." She said. Did this mushroom actually think I cared about what she thought? I raised an eyebrow.
"Honey, when I want your opinion, I'll ask for it." She stared at me as if I had slapped her, which is probably how that comeback felt.
"I don't know how you got him to ask you out, you aren't at all nice." She said
"I can say the same thing about you." I replied.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I am really nice. Everyone likes me." She stated
"I'm not so sure about that." I muttered. Why am I friends with this girl?
"What were you saying?" She asked me.
"Oh, nothing really." And with that I walked away.
I was heading to my next class when I bumped into someone. Mackenzie. She looked at my and started moving away but I stopped her by grabbing her wrist.
"Hey, Mackenzie. I was wondering if we could talk later." I suggested.
"Sure." She replied with a low whisper.
"Great. Meet me at the girls bathroom at lunch period." I told her while she nodded.
The bell was heard, and we had to go to class.
We separated our ways and went to our classes.
The next few hours were full of numbers, essays and homework. When lunch period arrived I was eager to go to the bathroom to meet Mackenzie. I started walking towards the bathroom. I arrived and there was no sight of Mackenzie yet. I didn't bothered me cause I was 5 minutes early. I was waiting when the door opened and I turned my head towards that direction. Mackenzie was looking at me shyly, not sure whether to come in or not.
"Hi. You can come in you know?" I said while letting out a small chuckle.
She nodded and came in.
"Look, I just wanted to say sorry on behalf Johnny. I know you are know on good terms but he say said some really mean things that I personally don't agree. I was hoping we could hang out together. I am just sick of fake people. There seems to be a lot in these school." I said, sending a smile to Mackenzie.
"Yeah, sure. I thought you came here to tell me to back off your boyfriend or something along those lines." She replied.
"You mean Johnny? Don't worry. We are not dating anymore." I informed her.
"Oh. Are you ok?" She asked me.
"Yeah... Anyways, I gotta go." I said while heading to the door. I exited the bathroom and went to have lunch. Great. I have no one to sit with. I decided I would just go to sit to a table in the corner and hopefully pass unnoticed. I sat down and started eating. I was so concentrated in my food I didn't realise someone was coming to my table.
"Mind if we sit here?" I looked and that the voice came from Mackenzie. Lauren was standing next to her.
"Sure." I shortly replied. They both sat down in front of me and started eating.
"You know it's rude to stare, right?" I heard Lauren saying. They started laughing and soon I joined in.
"Lauren, Mackenzie, thank you." I said.
"For what?" Lauren asked me.
"For sitting with me. I was going to eat alone." I explained them.
"It was nothing. And by the way, you can call me Kenzie. Friends do that." She told me while smiling.
"Really? Thanks!" I thanked her.
"Stop thanking, Nadia!" And with that we broke in a set of giggles.
