Chapter 8

Johnny's POV

"Good morning class." The teacher greeted us.
"Today we are going to work in partners and you'll have to make a project about the rock cycle." He explained us.
It was science class, and I didn't had Nadia nor Lauren. Kenz was in my class but things were a little bit awkward between us even though I already apologised. Anyways, if I didn't want to get stuck with a stranger I had to ask Kenzie to be my partner.
"Hey Kenz." I said while sitting next to her. "Wanna be my partner?" I asked her.
"Okay." Mackenzie replied, not making eye contact with me.
"Sweet. Let's start." I suggested.
"Yeah." She said, still not looking at me.
"God Mackenzie. Look at me!" I told her. She looked up at me and then started doing the work. "How lucky am I?" I thought. "She's doing all the work."
Suddenly a voice from the back asked something to Mackenzie.
"You're doing all the work, Kenzie?" It was Brandon.
Kenzie simply nodded in response.
"Typical of John." He said while sighing. "Partnering up with a cute lady and then letting her do all the work. Next time you'll be my partner Kenzie." He looked at Kenzie waiting for an answer.
"Sure." Kenzie said, showing no emotion.
I wanted to say something but nothing came out of my mouth. First she calls her Kenzie, and they have only known each other for like a day. And then he has the dignity to imply that I just chose Mackenzie because I wanted her to do the work. Not gonna lie, I do that quite often but not with Mackenzie.
So, I decided that I would actually help Kenzie just so that I can prove Brandon wrong.
"Is there anything I can do?" I asked her.
"Not really." She almost whispered.
"Come on! There has to be something! I reproached her.
"No. No, there isn't." She stated.
"Mackenzie! I'm willing to help you! It's not every day I do this." I begged her.
"Okay. You can write the title." She pointed where I should write it. I started working on it. "At least I can do something." I thought. I was concentrating so hard on the title that I didn't realise the class was over. Mackenzie looked at my title and nodded. And with that she left. I gathered my things and left to my next classroom.

I was on my last period and this time I was sitting next to Nadia. The teacher was talking about the different types of forces in the nature but I didn't really paid attention.
I was staring at Nadia. Soon the class was over, and I grabbed Nadia by the waist so she wouldn't leave.
"You look hot today, babe." I told her.
"Are you serious? You've got to be kidding me! You only care about that, don't you?
First you are mean to Mackenzie because of her looks and then you came here and tell me I look hot cause that's all you care about! Bet if I wore an oversize hoodie and baggy pants you wouldn't had asked me out!"
"But-" I tried to say.
"No buts Johnny! You seriously need to change! And when you've done so you can come and discuss the matter like normal people" Nadia told me while turning away.
"Wait! Are you breaking up with me?" I asked her.
"I just need time to think and decide whether saying yes to you was a wise decision." And then she left, leaving me speechless.
