THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 33 VOTES AND NEARLY 200 READS. I LOVE YOU ALL

Any other nine year old would be sobbing right now, but Macie has eerily calm about everything. Her mind is often occupied by her treasured dolls.

She ambled into her room to fetch them from her usual spot. That's really weird, she thinks when they aren't on her nightstand. They must be somewhere, she tries to keep herself cool while she searches for them.

She closes her eyes and takes a deep intake of breath. In and out. When she opens her eyes, the dolls are still missing. Anxiety grows in the pit of her stomach.

She checks underneath her bed, and in her dresser drawers. She examines the closet, and opens the small blue chest that was by the door.

Her hope has almost run out when she reaches the chest. She unlocks the sides and pulled apart the middle divider before lifting the top. Her heart sinks to her stomach. Tears fill the young child's eyes when she sees the empty chest.

She gets up and runs out of her bedroom. "Stephanie!" She cries out hysterically for her elder sister. Her tiny fists bang on her door feverishly. She keeps going until her balled up hands are red.

The door is abruptly open immediately after Macie stops knocking. A sleep-deprived Stephanie answers the door with frustration and annoyance on her face.

"What?" She looks down at her younger sister expectantly, waiting for whatever she has to say.

"Nettie and Scarlett are missing!" She announces melodramatically like it was the end of the world.

Stephanie blinks. "So?"

Macie tugs on her arm and pulls her big sibling out of her room. "We have to find them! They need me. " She feels responsible for the welfare of the beloved possessions.

"They're just dolls, " Steph mumbles under her breath to a non-listening Macie.

They go downstairs to see everyone else awake. Like Steph, none of them seem to have slept well. Michael has his head in his hands and is sitting on the couch. Luke has dark circles around his empty blue eyes. Ashton is usually hyper and perky, but today he looks as if his face was going to fall off. Calum's nightmares kept waking him up, so he didn't get much sleep. Candace didn't sleep at all. You can tell by her bloodshot eyes and tired expression. A mourning Simoné was too busy sobbing to sleep. Her face was tear-streaked.

"Who took my dolls?" Macie has begun to point fingers at the house guests and squints at all of them.

"What are you talking about?" Michael speaks softly and lifts his head, propping it up with his hand on his knee.

"Her dolls are missing. Who took them?" Stephanie feels herself dosing off while standing there. She has to snap herself awake each time she catches herself drift.

"I sure as hell didn't take her goddamn dolls. " Simoné swears and wraps her burgundy blanket closer around her small foetal-positioned body. She is laying down on the oversized ottoman. Everyone else agrees, no one admitted to the crime

"Watch your mouth. " Steph sternly warns. "If nobody will speak up, them we have to check all of the rooms. "

...

Simoné's room is cleared. No dolls in there, Macie concludes solemnly to herself with a sigh.

Onto Michael & Candace's room. The two search under the beds. Macie checks Michael's while Steph covers Candace's.

"Spot a redhead?" Asks Steph from under the bed.

"No. " Macie replies sadly when she doesn't see any sign of her precious dolls.

"We still have two more rooms. " Stephanie tries to soothe her younger sister once they both get out from under the respective beds.

"I guess you're right. "

The last room belongs to Calum an Ashton. It smells of teen boy, sweat, and the masking of cologne to hide the sweatiness. Their room is cluttered on one side, and neat on the other. Macie goes to the cleaner side, while Steph is stuck with the messier one.

She dives under the pile of flannels, band tees, and muscle shirts to spot the head of a redhead doll, Scarlet. Her mouth falls agape. She keeps digging and finds Nettie. "I-I found them. "

"Yay!" Macie claps excitedly. In her peripheral vision, she sees a bag. "What's that?" She turns and picks it up. "Why is Raven's bag in here?"

CALUM AND ASHTON WHAT THE HECK HOW COULD YOU?

(So basically they found Macie's doll and Raven's bag in Calum & Ashton's room. This is a very significant filler chapter. )
