He watched in satisfaction as the strings slowly rose and latched themselves onto a thick, sturdy branch. Finally, he’ll be able to rid this world of his terrible existence. The strings twirled together to create one stronger rope. Then the strings split two ways, making a loop. He had previously stolen a stool from a nearby town so he could use that to stand on, as the noose was too high for him to fit his neck in from average height. Everything was set up. He tightened the loop around his neck securely. Now all he had to do was step off the stool.
“Hey, where’s Error?” Ink asked Dream. “U-uhm… I d-don’t know. He wasn’t here when I a-arrived.” Dream stated, still a little shook. “Shoot.” He muttered. “But my top question is: why were you unconscious? You had no reason to be! Is that why Error left? Because he didn’t want to be caught?” Dream accused angrily. “What? No, Dream. I’m sure Error had no bad intensions.” Ink reasoned. “Oh, for god’s sake, Ink! You don’t know that!” Dream yelled. “Yeah, you’re right. I don’t know. But you also don’t know Error is guilty.” Ink said calmly, trying to convince Dream to not turn… well… murderous. “Now, where’s my paintbrush?” he murmured as he stalked away to find it. “Do you seriously not remember anything that happened before you passed out?” Dream asked, still irritated. “Seriously.” Ink confirmed. “Well. That’s helpful.” Dream grumbled. “Nice enthusiasm.” Ink remarked sarcastically. “Eh. I try.” Dream shrugged.
(Dirty joke ahead MWAHAHAHA)
“A-ha! Found it!” Ink held up his paintbrush, claiming his victory. “Huh? What? Found what?” Dream was startled awake. “My-”
“Virginity?” Dream butted in and smirked deviously, which caused Ink to blush. “W-what?”
“Because if you like I can make you lose it again.” Dream flashed Ink a seductive grin.
OH MY GOD WHAT-WHY AM I DOING THIS!? WHY AM I FLIRTING WITH HIM!? STOP ME PLEASE!
Dream blushed madly, realizing what he had just said.
(Dirty joke end)
Ink is just staring at me… what do I do? Ugh. I really should’ve asked Reaper Sans about this… he’s way better at flirting than me!
“Uhm. I’m… good… thank you.” Ink said awkwardly. “Y-yeah. Sorry. That just came out I don’t know why. S-sorry!” Dream stuttered. “ANYWAY! We need to find Error right?” Ink changed the subject. Dream just nodded. “Then away we go!” Ink created a portal and shoved Dream through before following.Trees. That’s all they could see. “Error! Are you here!?” Ink yelled into the forever-stretching forest. “Are you sure he’s gonna be in this universe?” Dream asked uncertainly. “My senses are always right, Dream.”
They walked on through the dark, looming forest. “Ink! We’ve been walking too long! He’s not in this universe!” Dream complained. “Yes he is. He has to be.” Ink countered, determined (haha) to find Error. “Whatever. You go on then.” Dream stopped and leaned against a tree. Ink hesitated, glancing back at Dream before walking on ahead. “Why does Ink even care about that good-for-nothing-” Dream stopped his murmuring abruptly when he heard the high-pitched scream of Ink. “I-Ink?” he started walking forward cautiously. “Dream! Get here now and help me!” Ink yelled. “C-coming!”Darkness. His eyes saw nothing, his mind thought nothing, and his nerves felt nothing. But he wasn’t dead yet, that much he could tell. From off in the distance he could hear muffled voices approaching. It’s like… knowing you’re alive without acknowledging it. You can hear things from the outside world around you but your brain can’t process it. It’s weird. But everything’s weird in a way, I guess.
Ignoring the voices, he let himself be carried away into nothingness.Dream just stood there, appalled. Right there in front of his eyes, hung a lifeless Error. He glanced at Ink who was freaking out, wondering what he could do. “Cut the rope, moron! That’s what!” Ink shouted at himself and tore the rope down from the branch. Dream could only watch as Ink unraveled this loop around his neck and shouted Error’s name continuously, trying to get him back to consciousness.
How could this be happening?
Never in his life had he experienced someone attempt suicide before."Please..."
"I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry."
He sobbed as his portal disappeared from in front of him.
"I’ve destroyed so many au’s out of m-my anger... not even thinking about how you f-felt. Without thinking a-about how A-ANYONE felt. I-I just could-n’t handle... my au being d-destroyed... so I destroyed all of th-the other au’s..." he sunk to the ground and Ink followed. They were now kneeling on the ground, sobbing into each others shoulders.
Wait, I remember this! This is when Ink found me in Outertale!
"I understand. It’s fine. I forgive you."
"Please..."
"Please."
“Error.”
“Please.”
“Error!”
“Error! Error, please! Wake up!”
“I-Ink?” Error murmured drowsily but still didn’t open his eyes. “Yes! Yes, Dream! Dream, he’s waking up!”
“Wait, really? How’s he doing?”
“I don’t know! He’s not even fully awake!”
Error didn’t really pay a whole lot of attention to the rest, as it was pretty much just Dream and Ink yelling back and forth to each other. Before he knew it he was out cold once again.“Do me a favor and grab my paintbrush and make a portal to the house, will you?” Ink asked Dream as he tried to lift Error’s limp body. “Sure.” Dream replied plainly and made the portal as commanded. “Thanks.” Ink said briefly before carrying Error through.
Dream didn’t get it. How could he hate Error so much, yet feel pity for him at the same time. Probably ‘cause I’m the barer of good emotions. I probably never really hated him. Was it jealousy? Probably. I say probably a lot.
Dream followed Ink through the living room, up the stairs, and right into Error’s room. “What now?” Dream asked. “We nurse him, duh.” Ink replied simply. Dream nodded and watched as Ink placed Error onto his bed carefully. “Why do you think he would try and commit suicide?” Ink asked Dream. “Beats me.”
“Everything we’ve done for him seemed to have been working.”
“Well... we did tell him to write a journal, correct?”
“Yeah?”
“So…”
“So… what?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe you could read the freakin’ journal!” Dream yelled. Ink just face-palmed himself for not realizing sooner. “Wow! Great idea! Where’s the journal?” Ink asked with... was it sarcasm? Dream couldn't quite place it. “Probably in his drawer.” Dream said, pointing to his bedside table. Ink nodded and walked over.
