It was the ultimate cliffhanger. Clifford Blossom had killed himself. But why? Life's not an Agatha Christie novel. It's a lot messier. Turns out, maple syrup was a front for his true business. Transporting heroin from Montreal on his trucks. A narrative quickly emerged. That Jason Blossom learned about dear old Dad's drug running, and threatened to expose the truth.
Which led to Jason's abduction at the hands of a Southside Serpent named Mustang. And then to Jason's murder at the hands of his father. Clifford killed Mustang to cover his tracks, making it look like he'd overdosed, and tried to implicate a rival businessman, Hiram Lodge, as having masterminded the whole thing. And, oh, yeah, I almost forgot. Mr. Blossom threatened mine and Jughead's life, so that my dad would confess to pulling the trigger, even though all he did was clean up the mess.
And he would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for a group of pesky kids who uncovered the truth.Even as Clifford Blossom, consumed by guilt and shame, took the coward's way out. Jason's murder had revealed some dark truths none of us were too eager to face. Especially not Mayor McCoy, who wanted every last vestige of corruption crushed like a snake under a boot heel.
Jughead actually got moved to South Side High and we sat together as other students gathered. We sat around laughing and talking until Betty, Archie, and Veronica showed up, and he left with them.
As the number of days went on Our story continues. The Mayor's Jubilee I happily missed was supposed to change everything. Be a new start. But when we woke up the next morning, Riverdale was still, at its heart, a haunted town. Fred Andrews was shot, Pops shut down. Riverdale is basically slowly falling apart.
Fox and I sat with Jughead and Betty at FP's trial where Cheryl was supposed to testify." Ms. Blossom, you may proceed with your statement." The judge called out, "Your Honor, I speak for myself and my mother when I say we forgive FP Jones for the part he played in covering up my brother's murder, and we humbly ask the court for leniency. FP's guilt has been blown out of proportion to satiate what my father's suicide denied us. Closure." Cheryl said, and I bit my lip gripping my boyfriend's arm, and my brother's hand. "As much as I sympathize, I can't ignore the quality of Mr. Jones' crimes. There were no extenuating circumstances."
The judge tried to say, but Cheryl quickly said: "My father threatened him." Jughead gripped my hand back, as she continued to say "I overheard them talking in Daddy's study. Daddy said he would hurt Jughead and Talia if FP didn't comply. Is that extenuating enough?" The room fell silent, but the Judge weighed the options he had in his head. "In light of these revelations, I suggest that we take a step back and reevaluate certain aspects of the case. At which time, we will revisit the sentencing. Adjourned." I turned to Jughead, "Is that a win?" He just says "It's a delay."
Betty invited me to help them save Pops. It took a little convincing but I eventually gave in and went with her and Jughead to Pops. Course I just sat at the bar while Betty, Jughead, and Veronica were playing waitress and waiters. Eventually, nobody showed up until Betty had an idea.
I sat at the bar when Josie McCoy came in with one of her Pussycat band members came after her. "Why the hell did you broadcast all over social media that the Pussycats would be doing a free concert here tonight?" She called out and I turned to Betty who just says "I knew that if I asked you, you would have said " Josie cut her off "No! Mmm-hmm. If my mom even hears that I set foot in this place" I sighed and turned to her.
"Josie, you care about this place, I know you do. I'd see you in here all the time." Josie turned from me to Betty, "Betty, even if I wanted to help, I'm down a cat. Valerie has norovirus" From beside us Cheryl calls out "I don't mind stepping in. After all, if you can be a River Vixen, Josie, I can be a Pussycat. As long as it's a cover, I'm sure I'll know the lyrics." Cheryl tells her and the girl next to Josie just says "I mean, you do love your cheese fries, Josie Fine." Josie groaned "Fine."
