Grace sat up and stared up at the stars. Her face glowed under the moon light. She smiled to herself, and she glowed even more.

"Watcha' smiling about?" I asked and sat up beside her.

"Just thought of something." She looked over at me.

"Ah, I see." I nodded my head at turned to the sky.

Grace looked up at the sky as well.

It was nice and quiet. We heard some laughter as bystanders walked by.

"Less I rest in this... lone star, state of mind." I sang.

"What was that?"

"Just thought of some lyrics from one of my songs. I'll sing it to ya' one day."

"Alright.."

"Want me to walk you home? Its getting pretty late." I offered.

"Please." Grace gave a sweet smile. Her cheek bone slightly showed and her small dimples appeared.

I stood up and offered her my hand. She grabbed my hand and I pulled her up to her feet.

"Tell your mom thank you for the dinner, and it was nice meeting everyone. You have a very kind family, River."

Grace leaned on the door henge of her front door.

"Thank you." I ran my hand through my hair. "Come over anytime, alright? You're welcomed to come knocking on my door if you need a place to crash."

"Now why would you say that?" She grinned.

"In case your aunt kicks you out for being home two minutes past your curefew, getting drunk, hanging with a troubled guy like me." I joked. She laughed slightly and gently slapped my arm.

"Thank you, River." She raised her eyebrow at me. "Good night, River."

I took a step towards her. I held the back of her head in my hand, bringing my lips to her forehead.

I pulled away and took a step back. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and saw Grace's cheeks glow red.

"Good night, Grace."

I turned on my heels and made my way down her porch, going home.

---

I pulled off my shoes and laid on my bed.

I let out a long sigh as the thought of River creeped into my mind.

I touched the spot on my forehead where he kissed me.

His smell of beer and fresh grass lingered on me. As unpleasing the smell of beer is, the way its mixed with other scents made it pleasing.

River is such a sweet heart despite his decisions on drinking.

I don't know if I should be worried about what I don't know about him;

The topic of 'things I don't know about him' made him uneasy, and made the air between us very awkward.

It was more than obvious that whatever it is is really bad. His expression went from calm to serious in a blink of an eye.

I made a pinky promise. And whatever it is, I will not leave River because of it.

Its pretty stupid now that I think about what I did; making a promise to him over something that I don't know about.

He could be a theft, murderer, rapist, kidnapper! Anything!!
