Dear Uncle Dan,
Your smile is number one, and there is no other uncle like you! From me being dressed like a fairy princess being lifted into the air by you, up until now watching you rack up another year, which is a big thing indeed.
School’s boring, life is weird, people are confusing, and yet something as big as the sky can remember to be blue and not accidentally change to a teal, indigo, or banana yellow peel.
Have you ever wondered why we think about things other than breathing, moving, eating, drinking, sleeping, and blinking? Why do we think about when we will breathe after coming up from beneath the water, when we will finally join that gym down the road, when we’ll start that diet that we’ve put off since spring, when we’ll cut back on Cola (which is impossible), when we won’t stay up ungodly hours of the night watching that one awesome movie, and when we decide a Staring Contest has gone on long enough.
Face it, as kids we never think of much. We think when our next meal is, when we can play with friends, homework, praying to god (possibly about your homework and asking him to give you strength to put up with it), and then knowing one day we will have to leave this earth. But hey, as kids, we are goofy, silly, and totally immature.
If you could be one dessert in the world what would you be? If you found an old treasure map would you follow it? Fork or chopsticks? Mow the lawn or shovel the driveway? Bee sting or bad mosquito bite? These are silly, nonsense, reality questions that make you think, think, think. Well continue to think, think, think because as long as you think (and at the times you don’t), you still have people who love and adore you.
Love You Forever and Ever and Ever,
Haley
