Think of this as my little present to you guys ;)
Author's POV:
As hard as it was for the boys to stay focused what with Sue's offer to Jungkook, the watchful eye of Jimin's father, and the general stress of practicing each day, the two pull through the last week of Jimin's parents and are finally able to concentrate on their work.
For the next two weeks Jungkook finds little to no rest as Jimin pushes him, coaching him secretly in the evenings after practice.
A month later you never would've known Jungkook began not even knowing how to hold his balance on the ice. Even though Jimin continues to fall for Jungkook, and Jungkook continues to fall for the Jimin...they keep their distance for the sake of the upcoming season and professionalism.
This evening marks the 4th month Jungkook has stayed with Jimin, and regardless of Jimin's whining, Jungkook is determined to celebrate.
Jungkook's POV:
I hold onto Jimin's hand tightly as we get ready for the lift, completing it perfectly. Next comes the quad toe-loop which Jimin lands flawlessly, but I still can't get quite right, always under rotating it.
"Again!" Fredrick shouts from the sidelines.
"Yes, Coach!" I call, as I skate back into position.
Jimin smiles at me gently as he closes the space between us, catching my waist in his grip, halting him to a stop in front of me.
"You alright?" He asks, digging his toe pick into the ice.
"Yeah..." I answer breathlessly as I spin him around into position. "I'll be fine..." I whisper.
"I picked out the song we will be choreographing your short program to, but I think it would be best if you two pick out the song for your free skate." Fredrick informs us as he walks around the rink, eyeing our technique.
"I agree." Jimin replies, starting to gain momentum for the jump.
"Tomorrow we'll be going over the choreography, so don't be late. It's going to be one of high technical difficulty, and also it will demand a high level of artistic ability." He watches silently as we jump in sync and land perfectly. "Good." He notes, telling us that we can move onto the next step.
~An Hour Later~
I begin undoing my skates as Fredrick sits down with a grunt next to me.
"Yes, Coach?" I ask, my eyes looking slightly past him at Jimin who waves at me before walking out.
"Jungkook, I need to talk to you about something." He begins, turning to face me, and my stomach knots. "You've been doing really well in practice recently, and I've been glad to see it." He smiles at me, but something in his eyes tells me he's hiding something. "...but...I was looking at our contestants this season and well...it's gonna be tough." I nod and link my fingers together to stop them from shaking. "...Do you think you'll be able to do it?" He asks, looking straight into my eyes, a silent plea coming from them.
"...W-What are you saying?" I ask in almost a whisper.
"I was just thinking...if for any reason the pressures of the tournament got to you, wouldn't it be nice to have a sort of...understudy for you?" I'm about to speak when he quickly adds. "For Jimin's sake."
"...but...what does Jimin think about this?" I ask.
"Well, to Jimin, a partner is a partner is a partner. I don't think it will change much as long as the choreography stays the same."
