Johanna POV

"Classes here are a lot different from America's." I state.

Draco and I have a free period so, we're just lounging in the common room until the next class starts talking about how different Ilvermorny was from Hogwarts.

"They can't be all that different." Draco reasons.

"Well," I start, "The Magical Congress of the United States of America, or MACUSA, have the school teach slightly different views and subjects than the Ministry of Magic. Also, most of the teachers are more strict there than they are here, excluding McGonagall and Snape of course. And, we had less downtime at Ilvermorny than we do here, and the assignments teachers gave were harder than the assignments Hogwarts teachers give."

"Glad I don't go there," Draco smiles, "I can barely survive here!"

"You don't have to tell me! I practically do your homework for you!" I tease.

"I remember asking you to proof read it, not completely change it." He defends.

"Right." I tease, "We'll go with that."

He scoffs then smiles at me.

I feel myself blushing so I turn to look at the clock.

"Oh! I need to go!" I get up and scramble to get my stuff, "I've got a class soon and its all the way across the castle."

"Jo. Calm down! You'll be fine." Draco groans, "You do this every time."

"And you say the same thing every time." I reply, rushing out the door, "See you in potions!"

"Bye! Don't trip!" He yells after me.

"Oomph!" I plop down in the chair between Draco and Ibby.

"Could you be any louder?" Ibby complains, exhausted.

"Sorry, It's just all this stuff we have to carry around is really heavy." I apologize.

"You'll get used to it eventually." Draco assures you.

"Hopefully soon, I'm not exactly the most athletic person in the school." I smile.

"No kidding." Ibby mutters under her breath.

I elbow her and turn my attention to Snape as he storms into the class as usual.

"Prepare your cauldrons. We will be making the Pepperup Potion." He states coldly, "Can anyone tell me what this potion is to be used for?"

I slowly raise my hand.

"Yes Miss Brixton?" Snape asks.

"The Pepperup Potion is used to improve health, relieve coughs and colds." I answer, then add, "But it does have the effect of making steam blow out your ears though."

"Very good. Ten points to Slytherin." He rewards me, "Now you all may get the ingredients listed on the board."

I smile, this is the one part of potions I'm good at, answering questions. Everything else, not so much.

Ibby ran off to get the ingredients and Draco helped me set up the cauldrons, which were too heavy for me to pick up. I look over the directions for the potion and try to understand what I was supposed to do.

"Um..." I say dumbly.

"Here," Draco takes the book, "Me and Ibby will put it together and you'll prepare the ingredients and give them to us." He smiles.

"Good idea." I agree.

Ibby POV

After potions Jo and I run off to waste time during our shared free time, technically we're supposed to be studying or doing homework but we take advantage of the time to explore. Yesterday we went all the way to Hagrid's hut and to the edge of the woods, today we're exploring the other side of the yard. This is closer to the lake and the quidditch field, something Jo wanted to check out.

"I always feel like we're doing something bad when we do this." Jo complains, "I know we aren't but yesterday we got close."

"We'll be fine." I assure her, "We're on our break, they can't be mad at us for getting some fresh air."

She looks up to the approaching clouds, "Let's just get back before it starts raining."

I roll my eyes and continue onward.

At the edge of the lake, we can see the giant squid swimming close to the surface. He does this on stormy days, it means the storm will be really bad. I take a bag of sardines out of my bag and open it.

"That's disgusting." Jo grimaces.

"It's smell-proof, I made sure of it." I brush it off, "These are his favorite snack!"

She smiles, "You are such a Hufflepuff."

"Thank you!" I smile back, dumping the tiny fish carcasses into the water, "There ye go, Frank."

Jo doesn't question it, I asked Hagrid yesterday if the squid had a name. He told me it's Frank.

The clouds get closer and closer.

"Can we go now?" Jo asks.

"Yes." I stand and brush grass off my knees.

We quickly hurry back to the castle, making just as the rain starts dumping from the clouds. To the right, we can see Hagrid's class running for cover.
