Separation

When we arrived at the station Ibby, Blaise and I all waited behind so we wouldn't get separated getting off the train. Blaise stayed with us because Ibby and I had no idea what we were supposed to do when we get off. Ibby usually stays with me all the time, if you see me she's probably not far away. I'm afraid that we'll get put in separate houses and Ibby won't know what to do. I know I make it sound like I make all the decisions and Ibby would be clueless without me but it's not like that, I know Ibby would function just fine without me but she has a bit of separation anxiety so it makes me a little scared of what her reaction will be if we get separated.

"Come on you two. We should go before your boat leaves." said Blaise.

"Okay." I say

We walked off the train. It was pouring rain! Blaise pointed us toward a boat on the shore of a huge lake. On the other side of the lake was Hogwarts, you could barely see it through the rain just the silhouette of the huge castle.

We ran over to the boat there was a figure holding an umbrella inside. At first I thought the rain was making the person inside look bigger than they were, I was wrong. This huge hairy guy was sitting in the boat. I looked for the other boats but they were all full or heading across the lake already. The man in the empty boat motioned for us to come over so we started to walk over.

"Hurry up! We gotta get across before the lake flows over!" he shouts over the torrential downpour.

We run over and hop in the boat before he can say anything else.

He launches us, all the other boats had already left the dock.

I couldn't stop looking at him. The guy was huge! He noticed, of course. I looked away real quick.

"It's alright. Lots of the first years are scared of me at first." he says.

"I'm not scared, it's just..." I trail off.

"We've never seen someone so big before. No offense." Ibby finishes for me.

"Not many people have. To be fair, I've never seen first years as big as you before, height wise I mean." he replies.

"Technically, we're not first years. We're fourth years, we transferred from Ilvermorny." I explain, "I'm Johanna and this is Ibby."

"Nice to meet ya! I'm Hagrid. I'm not as scary as I look, actually I'm a really nice guy. Ask anyone, except the Slytherins they don't seem to like me." said Hagrid happily.

All of a sudden we heard this big splash coming from the boat ahead of us.

"What the?" Hagrid said just before some kid got pushed up from the water into our boat by this huge tentacle.

The kid was tiny and he was shivering so much he was rocking the boat! Hagrid quickly pulled off his coat and wrapped it around the boy.

"What's your name boy?" Hagrid asked suprised.

"Dennis." he said embarrassed,"I fell in."

"We noticed." I let in,"How exactly did you manage that?"

"I was standing up to get a better look at the castle" he explained. "Collin's told me all about Hogwarts and classes and the teachers and... are you Hagrid?" he asked quickly, "You look just like Collin described you, big beard, tall, and the coat too." turning to Ibby and I he added,"Who are you two?"

Ibby answered him, "I'm Ibby, and this is my sister Jo. It's very nice to meet you Dennis."

I could tell Ibby loved this kid instantly. I almost felt sorry for him, when Ibby gets attached there is no shaking her. Dennis is now her unofficial little brother.
