Chapter 22

I picked myself up out of my bed and saw a small overnight bag on the floor. Aiden had stormed out of the room, going to find Emily. I picked the bag off the floor and opened it. In there was my favourite jeans, my guns and roses t-shirt and my red converse. I wondered how they were there, seeming as the house had burnt down, but I had left them at Orla's. I quickly changed into them, every so often catching a burn or a bruise making me wince. There was also a little bag which had some new make-up in. Aiden said he was living with Emily so I'm guessing that was my new home until then. I put my mobile in my pocket and ran out of the room. As I wasn't allowed to be discharged so I had to sneak out. I walked out of the double doors, the cold breeze hitting me. Jake's house was a minute walk. As I walked down the road I thought of what I had just done. I had to. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if Niall had died. I came up to Jake's door. I took a deep breath and knocked. He opened it almost suddenly.

"Hi baby." He said to me while kissing me on the lips. I tried not to throw up.

"Hi sweet." I said trying my best to act to seem happy.

"So, I've missed you. I'm glad you have seen sense." He said as he grabbed my wrists pulling me inside and slamming the door. He pushed me against the wall and started to kiss my neck.

"Jake, please, not now." I murmured

"It's always the right time baby."

"No Jake. I want to settle in."

"Settle in? You're moving in?"

"Well its not like Aiden will want me living with him?"

He kissed me again. I felt repulsed.

"Jake. Be honest with me."

"Anything my sweet."

"Have you let Niall go?"

"WHY THE HELL DO YOU STILL CARE ABOUT HIM?!" he screamed in my face

"I don't. I just want to make sure you kept to your promise."

He grabbed my hair and pulled it. He pulled it back so my face was staring at the ceiling,

"I told you I've let him go. Now believe me."

"Jake, please let go of me." I whimpered from the pain.

He let go of my hair and I fell to the ground.

"Now stay here. I'm going to go and get a pizza. I'll be half an hour, max." he smirked at me.

He walked out of the house, locking the door behind me. I started to cry. Cry at what I had just done. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Niall. I wanted to talk to him just one last time. He wasn't answering. I walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. I tried ringing again. This time, I heard a faint ringtone go off. It sounded exactly like Niall's. I edged nearer to the door, which lead to the garage. I could hear some coughing from inside. I dropped my phone and tried the door. It was locked. I started to bang on the door.

"Niall?! NIALL?! ARE YOU IN THERE?!"

"Sophie?! Is that you?!" I could hear from inside

"Niall! Are you okay?!"

"I'm fine. Sophie, get out of here!"

"No! Jake is going to be half an hour! I'll try and stall him! I cant get in!"

"He keeps the door locked. Try the drawers!" he shouted inbetween coughs.

I ran to all the drawers searching for a key. There was none in any of them. I came to the last drawer praying there'd be a key. Result! I saw it laying inbetween the knives. I picked it up and ran over to the door. I turned the key in the lock and the door swung open. It was dark and I fumbled for a light switch. I switched the light on and I saw Niall. He was tied up in the corner and his face was still smoke stained. He had cuts and bruises all over him.

"Oh my god! Niall!" I screamed as I ran down the stairs, missing two at a time. I ran up to him and dropped to my knees. I cupped my face in my hands.

"Oh my god Niall, I'm so sorry! This is all my fault!" I cried as I kissed him

"Sophie! I thought I'd never see you again! Oh my god, I love you so much!" he said kissing me back

"Niall! We're going to get out of here!"

"Sophie..." Niall said, his face turning white.

I turned round to see Jake standing in the doorway with a knife in his hand.

"Well this is cosy.." he smirked
