It's mid summer and my mom is being an ass. "Elizabeth!! Are you paying attention?! Holy shit it's like you don't ever give a damn about your brother's wedding!!!!" Mom screams at me.
"I don't give a damn, though," I say, laying across the white chapel pews.
"Look, darling, I love you to death, but you have to help. Your brothers fiancé's family is dead so we have to make this wedding amazing!!!" She squeals and puts me on balloon duty.
"198," I say hours later. "199, 200," I tie the last balloon and go sit in the bathroom to play on my phone.
"Hey baby sis," Michael says, "you do realize you are in the men's bathroom, right?"
"But you're in here, so if it was ever men's it's gone now," I say trying to hide my embarrassment.
"That's rude," he says, "I might be gay, but I still have a penis." We both laugh and he helps me stand. "Anyway, mom wants me to take you home and watch over you since you're useless."
We walk out of the bathroom and to the car. I climb into his giant truck. Michael puts my seatbelt on me and then adjusts his own.
"So, Drew's, friend's, friend's boyfriend has an 'emo' friend named Daniel and I set you two up on a date."
"Are you fucking kidding me! Michael, what the hell!!" I scream.
"It will be good for you and it's not like it's anywhere fancy, it's at my wedding reception, tonight." Mikey says, he starts the car and starts the drive, the 5 minute trip to our house.
"That's even worse, I'll have you, Mom, Dad, and Drew watching over me! What if we wanted to have sex?" I try to say without smiling.
"Oh, hunny, if y'all want to I'll be more than happy to hind y'all." Mikey says, "I think if you got laid it would make you happier, too, but please wear a condom."
"Are you being serious?" I ask.
"Yes, baby, I am," Mikey says calmly.
"When did you start giving a damn about me?"
"When Drew said I don't get sex until we are besties," Mikey says not looking at me. His newly dyed greed hair is really bright and hurting my eyes. "But don't get me wrong, I love you and I actually want to get closer to you."
"I love you, too," I mumble.
We finally get to the house and Drew is standing in the driveway being gay. I jump out of the car and try not to look as Mikey and Drew make out and exchange lovey-dovey words.
I walk to my room and jump face down onto my bed. I kick my shoes off and minutes later I am asleep and comfortable in my futon.
"Lizy, it's time to get ready for the wedding," Drew shakes me awake gently. "Have you decided if you want to live with us or not?" He asks shyly as I sit up.
"You'll have an answer by tonight, Drew, and I heard you are bribing Mikey into being my friend," I say taking my shirt and pants off, not caring if Drew is in here.
"Ya, I'm sorry," he sits on my bed and wraps his arms around himself. Is he genuinely worried he did the wrong thing?
"No don't be!" I say, hugging him. "Thank you," I release him and grab the black-red dress my mom said I could wear and slip it on.
The dress is to the floor with long sleeves that bell out at the ends. It basically looks like a silky medieval times dress, thats made for royalty. I wear my converse knee high shoes and I make sure you can't see them under the skirt of the dress.
