What makes a best friend?

Again something I had to do for school, but it was a few minutes ago.

What makes a best friend?

A best friend is someone who won't judge you.

A best friend is someone who cares about you.

A best friend is someone who acknowledges your problems and doesn't always talk about theirs.

A best friend is someone who doesn't act selfish

A best friend is someone who makes their friend feel like they matter

A best friend is someone who puts their best friend before themselves

A best friend is someone who doesn't act condescending to the people they are supposed to be friends with

A best friend is someone who will listen and not scold their friend when she FOR ONCE tries to get her own word in instead of listening for what feels like the 100th time the same story from his theatre practice

A best friend is someone you can trust

A best friend is someone who won't scold you when you rant

A best friend is someone who can take their perspective off of their near-perfect life, and think about others

A best friend is someone who shows empathy when their friend is being teased by someone they are friends with

A best friend is someone who can make you feel better with kind words, not nice words because niceness is a mask and kindness is genuine

A best friend is someone who, even if you don't have the same opinions as won't act like you're stupid for believing something different

A best friend is someone who won't make you feel like you're obligated to have the same opinions

A best friend is someone who will care that you care about something/someone and not destroying your friend's hopes or making them feel like they need to do something else with their life

A best friend is someone who, even if they don't care as much about something, will support their friends

A best friend is someone who can make you laugh, even if you're upset

A best friend is someone who understands their friend's struggles, even if they're so put together that they're planning for college, and their best friend is still having constant mental breakdowns

A best friend doesn't act like they know everything, and then when their friend tries AGAIN to talk about the things she knows about doesn't ask them why they're trying so hard to act so smart

This is directed at a certain person.

You know who you are.

Also, I'm going to delete my other story and start a new one called "Letters to the girls on the bus."
