Chapter 78

Norae woke up from her nap. She only planned to sleep for a bit but it took her longer to wake up. She has a sudden craving for ice cream. So she dressed up, took her jacket and went down. She went to a convenience store to buy some ice cream and noodles for dinner. When she got everything she needed she immediately went on her way back home. She was having so much fun going back while eating her ice cream then just a few more steps before she reached her building, she saw Seol-a kissing a guy. The scene took her by surprise. Upon realizing what happened she hastily went inside. Reaching her room she just stood there not knowing what to do.

She just woke up but it seemed like she has no energy to move at all. She sat down on her mattress and stared to nothingness. She didn't even bother to turn on the lights. It's not that she didnt expect this not to happen, she actually has anticipated this yet her chest felt so heavy and an intense pain is breaking her heart to pieces. The feeling is not new to her yet it feels like she is experiencing it the first time. The sight of Seol-a kissing that guy is still so clear in her mind. She can still even see it when she closed her eyes.

She knew she doesn't have the right to get jealous or be hurt but she can't help herself. The pain that she is feeling right now is far more painful than the pain she felt when Sungpyo and her broke up. Why? Why does she have to witness that? She wanted to cry yet no tears were falling from her eyes. She was shocked and don't know what to do. She felt so lost. Her mind was full of questions. Will she be able to face Soel-a normally after what has happened? Or will she end up avoiding her again? No, she can't do that. She made her promise. She made her promise to stay by her side. But How? She has always been very careful in expressing herself and controlling her reactions. But for the past few days she was losing control. Her desires are greatly affecting how she reacts in front of Seol-a.

Remembering the sad and hurt face of Seol-a when she carelessly spouted harsh words to her, her sincere expression of care and concern when she tried her best to confront her in her room, how can she ever hurt the girl who never failed to make her heart flutter by resorting to escape and avoid her again? No, she can't do that. What if Seol-a will be fed up with her and be the one to choose to distance herself? Will she be able to do the same thing Seol-a did for her? Or will she just let her go away? The thought of losing her that way is unbearable. What will she do?

The sound of her ringing phone was like an alarm clock waking her from her deep sleep. It was Heejin.

Heejin: Norae!! Im sure you are at home now. Im on my way to your neighborhood. I've had to take care of some business at my school and decided to drop by to see you. Let's have dinner together. Ill wait for you at the intersection.

Norae: Heejin.

Heejin: See you in a bit.

Norae: ...

Without thinking, she got up, went outside to meet Heejin.

Heejin: Norae!! (waving)

Norae: (waved back)

Heejin: Hey, is everything fine? You look pale. Don't tell me you did poorly on your exams?

Norae: (laughed forcefully while scratching the back of her head) haha.. What's new?

Heejin: Geez! Good thing I came here. Let's go and I'll treat you to dinner.

--At the restaurant--

Norae: You seemed more cheerful as before. Did something good happen?

Heejin: Kekeke, this mighty Heejin landed a job at X company. I'm gonna start next week.

Norae: Waah!! You really did it. Im so proud of you.

Heejin: Hahaha Im proud of myself too. What about you? I heard he already re-enrolled?

Norae: Yeah, he did.

Heejin: Woah! Norae you really are sure I was referring to him huh? What is this? Is there a chance of a continued romance? or it happened already?

Norae: Geez, why do you always have to bring him up whenever we meet?

Heejin: Cause its too fun to tease you. kekeke

Heejin: What was that for? You seemed a bit down. Was this really all because of your exams?

Norae: (looked at Heejin) Everything is getting harder as I advanced with my courses. I wonder how you did it. (she wanna tell her friend the truth but she finds it too difficult to open up)

Heejin: hmm.. there's no easy way to that. You just have to work harder. You are almost there anyway.

Norae: ...

Heejin: Do you really think I dont know you well enough not to know that that isnt really the reason why you look like crap right now? Tell me.. what is it?

Norae: (looked at Heejin with a blank expression) Nothing really.. its just one of those times when you feel so much. I'm in the mood for a drink right now, let's order some alcohol. (smiles)

Heejin: This kid.. fine but be sure to stop when you are already at your limit okay? And let's not stay here for long. I have to go home early.

Norae: This is why Im sure we'll gonna be old hags together. kekeke

Heejin: Shut up!

Heejin: Goodness, I just stepped out for a while and look what happened.

Norae: One more... Heejin "hic" let's drink some more.

Heejin: Really this kid, I told you not to go all out. Now you're too drunk to go home.

Norae: Zzzzzz

Heejin: Hey! Norae!? Don't sleep yet. You can't pass out on me like this. (shook Norae's shoulder)
