The Tale of the Two Siblings | An OCTale Prequel

A long, long time ago...

Two siblings were born to a joyous family. This family had ancestors of royal blood for generations.

The SPADIX bloodline was a tough thing to uphold, for two twins.

The elder and more cunning twin was a young girl, infatuated with natural beauty. She had a heart of gold.
Her name was FLORA

The younger and more stubborn of the two siblings was a boy, with many aspirations and hopes. His heart was pure, too.
His name was CARLOS.

These two siblings got along like two peas in a pod, never leaving each other's presence, even in adulthood.

Soon enough, around the two siblings' 25th birthday, their parents decided to hand over the Kingdom to CARLOS, whilst they enjoyed a happy retirement.

Although CARLOS was the King, the two siblings were unified in the ruling of the kingdom, however their opinions on monsterkind were divided.

FLORA was afraid of the MONSTERs power to absorb HUMAN souls, whilst CARLOS saw MONSTERS as friends, and even allies. At this point, CARLOS had becone friends with the young King of MONSTERS, RELGORE.

One day, FLORA challenged her brother to a friendly spar to settle the debate, convinced that she would win. CARLOS agreed, but refused to fight back. FLORA became more and more frustrated, eventually firing a magic blast at her brother.

He passed out onto the floor, being hit
straight in the stomach. FLORA thought it was a joke at first, but then realised the damage she had caused. In fear, she escorted him to bed.

She ended up ruling the kingdom on her own for a few days, when not tending to her unconscious brother. After a meeting with the 6 human mages and RELGORE, she learnt that MONSTERs were far from scary - some of them were even cute!

RELGORE revealed to FLORA that day that his wife was pregnant with his son and successor to the throne. However, he did not want CARLOS to find out just yet. FLORA sadly led the MONSTER King to CARLOS' bedroom, to see if RELGORE could wake him up from his coma.

Then...RELGORE started singing. FLORA stifled sobs as she realised what song it was.

The lullaby that had been passed down from generation to generation of SPADIX.

Everything stays, right where you left it,
Everything stays, but it still changes,
Ever so slightly,
Dayly and nightly,
In little ways,
Where everything stays...

Slowly, CARLOS opened his eyes, immediately being embraced by his sister. After CARLOS asked what happened, FLORA simply smiled, and said that RELGORE had saved him.

Many, many years later, and FLORA was busy tending to her two children LUKAS and EMILY, when she heard CARLOS and RELGORE arguing over something, then RELGORE slamming the door behind him.

Her eldest, EMILY, asked her momma what was wrong, and FLORA sadly admitted she didn't know.

Two years went by, and FLORA was reading a story to her two children, the eldest on the floor, and the youngest in her arms. At this point, EMILY was around 5 years old, and LUKAS was only 2. ASGORE, RELGORE's son, was now a fully fledged adult.

The door creaked open, and FLORA turned around smiling, curious as to who it was.

A shiver went down her spine as she looked at the monster, consumed by the shadows.

FLORA barely got to ask their name before she was brutally murdered.
