The next day...

Luke awoke slowly, immediately feeling smothered by the comfortable bed they were lying.

"Huh? The beds at home aren't anything like this...where am I?" They yawned, before realising something. Immediately, they checked on their soul. It had returned to normal, besides a green healing aura still surrounding it. As Luke pushed their soul back into their body, the aura faded away.

As they got out of bed, and looking around the strange room, they noticed a small goat monster, sleeping against the end of the bed. Luke smiled as he remembered.

"Oh yeah...I fell underground. Asriel- was that it? He didn't have to stay up to look after me..." They chuckled, before leaning down towards the goat.

"Hey Asriel! Wake up!" They yelled, the monster awaking with a jump. They both laughed in unison, before Asriel looked up.

"Luke! You're awake! We were all so worried about you!" He smiled, getting up off of the floor, and patting his sides.

"Ha...I'm sorry for worrying you. Though...something bugs me." They admitted, Asriel now looking at them in curiousity. They began to explain.

"I had a weird dream. In that dream, a girl monster, who looked a lot like you, was communicating with me. I couldn't hear what she was saying to me, but she seemed worried. I laughed, and told her everything is fine. Then...she hugged me. And said she knew it wasn't fine. Then I woke up." They explained, Asriel listening intently all the while.

"Oh! That must have been Guidea healing you!" Asriel gasped.

"Huh? Who's Guidea?" Luke stopped, confused.

"My twin sister, obviously! That's why she looks a bit like me!" Asriel giggled. Luke stared at him for a second, trying to match the resemblance.

But they look so different. At least Carlos and Mom looked similar in their old photos. There's no way Asriel's related to that girl!

Luke interrupted their thoughts, as the door opened.

A tall, furry goat monster, with a blonde beard covering most of his face, walked into the room. He was wearing a small, golden crown atop his head amongst his mess of hair, and he was surrounded in a deep purple cloak.

"Oh! Howdy, I don't think we've met. You're Luke, correct?" The man smiled, looking down at the suddenly embarrassed human. Luke nodded, then took a step backwards, somewhat recognising the man.

"....Asgore? Asgore...Dreemurr??" Luke questioned, looking up at the furry goat monster in awe.

"Uh...yes, that is my name. How do you know?" He raised an eyebrow, Luke suddenly getting more nervous.

"Uh...I read stories of the War...and your father...??" They glanced, unsure of how to get out of the uncomfortable situation.

I can't let them know I'm related to the one that trapped them down here 11 years ago...

"Ahem...Anyway, my name's...Luke. Luke...Tatcka." They spouted, recovering flawlessly.

"Oh! Well, come on into the living room! I'll make you some tea. Are you coming, Asriel?" Asgore chuckled, his son gasping, his eyes gleaming.

"Oh! Yes please! I want some golden flower tea, Dad!" Asriel chirped, gaining a look of surprise form Luke.

"Oh, Asgore's your dad? Cool." They commented smoothly, following Asgore into the room. As they entered, they caught the whiff of something...that reminded them of something.

But...what?

"Mmm...What's that delicious smell?" They drooled, taking a seat down at the dinner table, as Asriel gestured to the seat next to him.

"That's Mom's butterscotch pie! You're really lucky, she only makes it on special occasions!" Asriel laughed. Luke hummed in response, and looked over at Asgore.

"Uh, Asgore, since you're making tea, can I try some?" They asked politely, gaining a large grin form Asgore.

"Oh! Should I get you some golden flower tea, like Asriel?" He chuckled, as Luke simply nodded in response.

Maybe I underestimated monsters. At least these four seem to be nice, unlike the definitely horrible one that killed Mom.

After striking up a small conversation with Asriel, Luke began to find out that Asriel had a lot more in common with them then they first realised, laughing over the same jokes, sharing the same stories...Luke decided, with determination, that Asriel and them were going to be great friends.

"I'm back with the tea! Toriel and Guidea's pie should be ready around now, too!" Asgore sung, placing a cup of tea in front of the two children.

"Mr. Asgore? If you don't mind me asking... Why are you being so nice to me? I can't understand that. All my race has done is push you away. I don't deserve your mercy." They trembled, clutching the cup of tea close.

"Ah...well, that's a bit tricky to give a definitive answer to. Us monsters are generally kind to anyone, really! And..." Asgore chuckled, but then stopped as Luke looked up at him, in curiousity. Asgore giggled awkwardly.

"..Well, let's just say you remind me of a friend of my late father's."

Asriel raised an eyebrow.
"Who was that?" He chirped suddenly.

Asgore kneeled down to the level of his son, and met him in the eye, smiling.
"Why?"
Like looked over, also curious.

"Curiosity. You never tell stories of your life on the surface."

Asgore hummed, and then stopped to remember. Luke flinched at the name.

"His name was Carlos."

* * * * * *

Carlos...Our uncle, right? You told me about him earlier.

Yeah... he was a bit of a dick.

Anyway, stop doing cliffhangers!

Okay, okay. I think Asriel kept a diary of some sorts whilst I was sick....
