Was this really happening right now? Louis Tomlinson’s mom adopted me? No, I’m definitely dreaming. I know it. I knew this was all too good to be true, nobody has ever wanted me - she’s no exception. There’s NO way I’m going to be the adopted sister of Louis. A famous musician? Where are the hidden cameras? This isn’t funny. It’s too good to be true. “Louis?” she said, looking as puzzled as I felt that I did. “Mum, you’re adopting Mikaela?” Louis said, looking at her like she was a nutcase. “It was something I did on a whim hun, she has nobody… I couldn’t leave the little poppet out on the streets! I wouldn’t do that to you or your sisters, and I won’t to her either. Is having another sister so bad ?” she said. Tears welled up in my eyes. I think that was the nicest thing somebody’s ever said about me. Harry must have noticed, because he glided his hand over mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze. Could this really be happening to me? “No mum it’s not like that at all, I just would have never guessed you’d do something on this quick trip to America, I thought the most you might do is bring home a blouse or something not another daughter!’ he chuckled. Louis turned to me all of a sudden, and I was worried at what he might say. Could he even want me as a sister? He just met me! Could they possibly spare any love for me? “Mikaela, would you like to be a part of our family?” he asked, smiling. “I…is this even real right now?” I asked, sobbing. “This is real Mik” Callie said, “Poppet, I’m going to phone my daughters and tell them, if you’ll have us… we’d love for you to join our family. There’s plenty of love and stability to go around. I can’t promise you that we’re a perfect family, but I’ll love you as much as I love my girls and my boy.” Jay said. “Every home I’ve been in, every family I’ve lived with, every time somebody promised me something, it all shattered. It broke. I’ve never felt loved or like I was a part of something, but there’s something in what you just said that makes me believe you genuinely. I want to let the walls around me down and let you and your family in. My family in.” I said, smiling but close to tears. I didn’t know if any of this was real, but I meant what I said. I had a family. My brother was one fifth of One Direction. My dreams had all come true. Every wish, I had it all now. I’m somebody now. I’m Mikaela Rae Tomlinson.

Everything happened so quickly after that. Two days later I was on a private jet to London to get situated in my new home, although I had no idea where that was. Nobody had told me much, they just asked me question after question. My new mother was named Johannah, but she told me that if I didn’t feel comfortable with “mum” yet, to call her Jay. Louis ranted on and on to me last night about his girlfriend Eleanor, which I was more than happy to listen to. I wanted to know all about my new brother’s girlfriend. I wanted to know about my new sisters. I wanted to take everything in. I learned a lot over the past two days. I had four new sisters, Charlotte, Felicite, Daisy and Phoebe, all younger than me. It was all a lot to take in, I was still getting acquainted with the idea that I had a family, the Tomlinson’s at that! I was lost in thought, trying to recollect everything that happened when yelling behind me made me lose my train of thought. “Is there any food on here! I’M STARVING OVER HERE!” Niall yelled. “You’ve eaten it all already mate! We bought food before we boarded!” Harry yelled back. “Mikaela hasn’t touched hers, can I have it!” Niall yelled back, eyeballing my bag sitting beside me which was holding some amazing food from Au Bon Pain, a little café located inside of the hospital that I’d been eating from for months. I didn’t have much of an appetite, so I got up to hand him the bag, sitting down between Harry and Louis. “So Mikaela, Louis and I had a flat back in Friern Barnet in North London, we moved out a few months back, but after talking it over we’ve decided that we’re going to rent it back out again. It has three bedrooms. One for each of us, if you’d like to live there rather than with Jay and the girls.” Harry said. “I talked it over with the boys, it’s only if you’d like. You’re more than welcome to live with my daughters and I, but I thought you might prefer living with the boys, you’re all around the same age.” my new mum said. “Either way is fine by me!” I said, grinning at the thought of sharing a place with Harry Styles. “I’ll phone the owner, tell them that we need the paperwork as soon as we’re back!” Louis said, and Harry was grinning from ear to ear. I wasn’t sure why, but something in my stomach made me wish that it was because I’d be staying with them. There was something about him that gave me butterflies, and I know it wasn’t just the dimples and the curls. “I’ll phone Simon and let him know about our new friend here!” Liam smiled. Niall was stuffing his face with my food and mumbled something I couldn’t make out. It mustn’t have been too important. Zayn was on the phone with somebody, his girlfriend I was guessing, maybe telling her about me? I thought I hear my name, but I could be mistaken. I looked at Harry, quickly looking away. He noticed and tried sliding his hand over mine again, but I brushed it off. I was nervous still. This was all so unfamiliar, so unexpected. I didn’t feel ready to open up just yet. He made me more nervous. He could never love me, I was me, after all.
