One Month Later

*Dan's POV*

For the next month or so, Phil and I continued meeting each other for tutoring. And, we didn’t just goof off during tutoring; Phil was serious about making me learn something. He joked that if he was forced to stay with me he might as well make something of me and teach me something.

But, every time we were done with our hour to two hour tutoring sessions, we went right to videos games. Sometime we didn’t even play video games, we just talked. I told him about my life, he told me about his. Though I couldn’t help but feel like he was hiding something from me; I never questioned him about it.

After our first tutoring session, Phil and I met with each other almost every other day. It as always at my house though I never really minded. Nobody except for Chris, PJ, and Emma knew about him and I seeing each other. Phil respected my limits about my reputation and acted as if the only thing he did was give me hour study sessions in school. Nobody knew that we actually became pretty good friends; I could even call Phil one of my best friends.

We both just got along so well, having similar tastes and sense humors. There were no awkward moments between us; we always found something to talk about. I felt like I could be myself around him and he wasn’t embarrassed of who he was around me.

I got used to the fact that he was bisexual by now, him making it clear he didn’t like me like that. Even though I still was bit grossed out at the thought, it didn’t really cross my mind when we hung out.

Everything was going really well between us, both of us respecting each other’s limits. We kind of even made an unspoken deal with one another. If he acted like we didn’t talk in school, I would quit harassing him. And it sort of stuck, like we didn’t even know the other existed.

The bell rang and I met with Chris, PJ, and Emma as we began to head towards our next classes. We suddenly spotted a very tired looking Phil down the hallway. He looked completely wrecked, giant bags under his eyes and his hair a lot messier than usual.

“Look it’s Lester,” Chris pointed towards the exhausted figure several yards away from us. I nodded uncaringly and Chris raised his eyebrow at me before shrugging and continuing alongside me. “You know, you haven’t been tormenting him as much as you used to; you actually haven’t been at all,” Emma suddenly spoke up, “Gay boy hasn’t turned you queer, has he?”

“Screw off Emma! Of course he hasn’t,” I shouted, causing some odd glances from around us. I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw Phil hadn’t noticed my tiny break out.

Suddenly, Emma was dragging me towards Phil, Chris and PJ following me close behind. I looked at her with a questioning expression but she remained silent, a small smirk on her face.

We stopped behind him and she tapped him shoulder, causing to almost fall down in shock. “Hey Lester,” she grinned as he looked down at her in fright, “You’ve been tutoring Daniel here, haven’t you?”

Phil looked at me and I shrugged lightly, signaling to him that I had no idea what was going on. He turned back to Emma and slowly nodded unsurely. “You sure all you’ve been doing is studying?” she raised an eyebrow. Phil didn’t even need to look at me before he nodded once again.

“So, you haven’t turned my baby here into another one of you?” Emma patted my arm as Phil shook his head. “You sure you haven’t been doing him or something?” she grinned and he shook his head feverishly.

“Emma, just leave him alone,” I sighed as I began to notice how truly terrified he was at the moment. Emma might have only been about 5’3” but she had the strength of an elephant. “Why should I?” she quickly shoved Phil into the lockers. I yanked her back and glared at her, “Emma, stop it.”

She stared at Phil for a few seconds before huffing and dragging me away. “You better watch it Lester,” she yelled behind he shoulder before we disappeared down the hall.

As soon as I was sure I was out of the hearing range of Phil I stopped Emma and looked at her with a cold stare. “What the hell was that?” I scowled as she smirked up at me. “Oh come on Danny, it was just a little fun,” she giggled.

I shook my head, “Look Lester is only tutoring me,” I raised my voice a bit, “Nobody’s taking me from you so why don’t you calm yourself a bit, okay?” She looked down at her feet for a second before looking up at me and nodding. “I’ve got to go,” I sighed as I glanced at my watch. Chris, PJ, and Emma all stared at me with confused looks but I ignored them before I walked off into the halls.

~~

At the end of the lesson, I got up and walked over to Phil’s table. “Sorry about the earlier,” I whispered as he got up and picked up his bag. “It’s alright,” he shrugged, “Emma’s got a thing for you, can’t blame her.”

I nodded, knowing that Emma had liked me ever since we became friends. Everyone already considered us a couple, though we never really made anything official between the two of us. “So, how about tutoring today?” I looked expectantly at Phil and he smiled. “We’ll meet outside,” he quickly mumbled before rushing past me, a smile left on my face.

I was just about to leave before Mr. Jones stopped me at his desk. “You’ve been doing much better, Daniel,” he looked up at me from his desk. I smiled as a thank you and he smiled back. “So, you and Phil seem to be getting along much better now,” he smirked at me.

“I guess so,” I shrugged, “He’s actually a pretty cool guy.” Mr. Jones smiled mischievously at me before nodding, “Alright, that’s all.” I gave him a quick unsure glance before quickly heading out the classroom. What could he have been thinking while he gave me that smirk?
