I walked to the chancellor office where I knew I'd probably find my dad. I knocked on the door to get his attention. He looked at me with a finger raised to his lips ,telling me to be quiet. When he saw it was me, he smiled and motioned me in.
"It's the first times she's slept in two days." My dad said quietly as he looked over at Abby.
"It's good she's resting now." I told him quietly.
"Hey, Dahlia." He cooed looking at the four month old baby in my arms.
"Hi ,grandpa." I said in a small voice for her while waving her hand at him. "Can you watch her for me?" I asked him in a normal voice.
"Where are you going?" My dad asked.
"With the group going to sector 7." I told him.
"Be careful." He told me.
"Always." I looked down to the baby in my arms. "Mama loves you." I told her ,kissing her cheek before handing her to my dad. He took her from me carefully. "If you need a break, you can find Sam. He knows where everything is in my room ,so if you need anything, ask him. I would've asked him but he needed sleep too."
"Is he okay?" My mom asked, making her presence known.
"Yeah. He won't admit it, but he's still struggling with Fox dying in Mount Weather. He's much better now that he's been with Monroe though." I explained. My dad nodded, a sad look on his face. "Thank you ,dad."
"Of course. Make sure you guys get back before it's too late." He responded.
"Yeah, I'll tell Raven ,she's driving." I looked at my baby again. I still hated leaving when I went with them to look for the other stations of the Ark. I didn't go often ,because I wouldn't be able to stand being away from Dahlia that much. "I love you." I told her again as I kissed the top of her head again. I looked back at my dad. "I should go catch up with them before they leave."
I turned and walked out the door. I walked outside to meet Octavia. She'd been teaching me what she's learned about the grounders. She says I've been learning quickly. Sometimes, when there was something she didn't know either, we'd ask Lincoln about it and he'd explain it to us.
Octavia even did my hair earlier this morning in a cool grounder way. It was put in a high ponytail and she had an idea with it. She did two french braids on each side of my head. Then she pulled it all back into my original high ponytail. It looked great.
"Hey. I was wondering where you were." Octavia said as I walked up to her as she was getting our horses ready.
"Sorry. It's still hard to leave her. It's better to do it now than try to adjust when something bad happens." I told her.
"Hopefully nothing bad does happen." Octavia said.
"I just want to be sure." I said. She nodded in understanding.
"How is Dahlia anyway? I haven't see her in a couple days. I might have to kidnap her for an hour or two when we get back." Octavia said with a smile on her face.
"She's doing good. She loves playing with her hands. She likes listening to people talk ,as long as they're not being too serious for her. She loves hearing music too." I told Octavia.
"Okay, they're ready. Shall we get the others?" Octavia asked. I nodded.
We mounted our horses. We rode towards the door that they'll open to bring the rover out. They opened it as we rode up.
"Try to keep up!" Octavia called to them. I saw Raven smirk in the driver seat.
We turned and rode off. I easily kept up with Octavia on my horse. Raven rode behind us in the rover.
