Sam and I heard people messing in the hood of the rover, then a gunshot. I jumped out of the rover, pulling my sword over my head and getting into a defensive stance.
"Get the damn battery. Go!" I heard Bellamy say. I ran to the front.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"We're getting Alie out of Raven's head." Bellamy told me shortly. I rushed to help Monty with the battery and helped carry it back inside. Sam and Bellamy followed us in.
"Guys, we have to move!" Bellamy called once we were in the room with everyone else.
Sinclair got the battery hooked up how he needed it and flipped the switch. Raven screamed, waking up a sleeping Dahlia, who began to cry. I rushed to my daughter and held her to me, trying to sooth her. Then Raven passed out. Clarke checked her pulse.
"She's breathing." Clarke told us. We all seemed to let out a relieved sigh. "Raven? Come on, Raven. Hey."
"Raven?" Octavia whispered.
"Come on. Come on, Raven. Wake up." Clarke tried.
"I'm gonna step outside." I whispered to Sam before walking out with a crying Lia. He nodded and looked back to Raven.
I quickly made my way back to the front, trying to soothe my crying child. I rubbed her back gently as I pointed up at the sky.
"Look, Lia. The stars are so pretty." I told her in a small voice. She looked up where I was pointing. She looked over the stars, seeming awed at the sight in front of her. She giggled as she looked. There was a shooting star. "That was a shooting star. You can make a wish, anything you want. Your Aunt Clarke used to love the idea of that. So did Uncle Sam."
She just stared at my face as I talked to her. She started babbling to me, making me grin. I loved this little girl so much.
After a while of stargazing with Lia, Monty came out, looking really upset. I shifted Lia to my other hip to hold her more comfortingly before I walked after him. I grabbed his shoulder, causing him to flinch. He relaxed slightly when he saw it was me but he was still really tense.
"Monty, what's wrong?" I asked softly.
"I could've saved her." Monty said, tears on the verge of falling down his face.
"Who?" I rubbed his back to ease his muscles more.
"My mom. I could've saved her but I let Sam kill her." Monty's shoulders sagged in defeat.
"Sam killed her?" I furrowed my eyebrows, a look of confusion spreading across my face.
"He had to. She was going to kill Octavia. I couldn't do it so Sam did. But now... We could've saved her. She didn't have to die." A tear slid down his cheek. That one lone tear saying more than if multiple of them fell.
"Oh, Monty." I wiped the tear from his cheek before bringing him into a hug. "You guys didn't know. You did everything you could with the knowledge you had at the time." Monty hugged me back tightly. I felt my shoulder getting slightly wet as Monty cried into it. I just rubbed his back with my arm that was around him, the other one being used to hold my daughter.
Then the others started coming out. Monty and I pulled away from each other as Bellamy eyed our closeness. I sighed and followed Monty to the rover. He got in the driver seat while I sat in the passenger seat with Lia in my lap.
Monty backed up the rover to Sinclair's instruction. When we stopped, we both got out. I walked to the back of the rover with Lia on my hip again. Octavia, Sinclair, and Jasper were helping Raven with getting in the back of the rover. Sam stayed back, probably not wanting to hover. Monty leaned against the side of the rover with a sad look on his face. I made my way over to him and wrapped my free arm around his waist.
