Cassidy
"Jake!" Someone yells.
It sounds like Christian.
I run into someone.
The person pushes me against the wall and I pull out my katana.
"Who goes there?" The person says.
"Jake?"
"Cassidy?"
He lets me go and hugs me super tight.
"Jake I can hardly breath." I whisper.
He lets me go and kisses me.
I push him off me.
"Jake!"
"I'm so sorry I didn't mean it! I think?"
"Jake just shut up and help me find Sam. I don't know where he went."
"Okay, but we actually need to find Christian too."
"Great more people to find. Did you happen to bring a flashlight?"
"Let me check."
He looks threw his bag and actually finds one.
He turns it on and we start looking.
We stay in awkward silence the whole time.
"Umm.... Cassidy I'm sorry I kissed you. I don't really know if I meant it or not so yeah."
"Jake I have no time for this I just want to find Sam and Mike."
He stays silent.
Bam!
Something collapses.
"What was that?" Jake says.
"I don't know." I look around and I see something move.
I start walking slowly to it, katana ready.
Jake follows me with the flashlight.
Snap.
I stop and something jumps on me.
I fall down and Jake shines the light on me.
A huge dog is on top of me growling in my face.
I let go of my katana and try not to move.
I look at Jake and his face looks like he is freaking out.
"Cassidy what do I do?"
"Jake just stay calm. The dog won't hurt us if we just stay calm."
"Okay." He says still looking freaked out.
The dog stops growling at me and just looks at me.
It looks like a pit bull and german shepherd mix.
I slowly put my hand up and the dog sniffs it.
He gets off of me and just stares at me.
I walk slowly to it and pet it's head.
I pick up my Katana and start walking.
"What we gonna do with the dog?" Jake asks.
"Nothing."
"We can't just leave it here. It will die."
"Jake it has survived this whole time. It's a survivor."
"It might be a survivor but that doesn't mean it can't die."
I take the flashlight out of Jake's hands and look around.
Perfect.
I find the dog aisle and the dog beds are spread all over. Most of the dog food is all ripped up and spread across the floor. I step look up and find one last dog treat box.
I reach for it then walk back to Jake and the dog.
I open the box and throw a treat in front of the dog.
It sniffs then eats it.
It swallows it then stares at me.
"Come on Jake."
"The dog?"
"It will follow."
We continue walking and the dog follows.
My eyes are finally adjusted to the darkness so I guess it's easier to see.
A girl turns the corner of one of the aisles and groans.
It's mouth is full of gooey looking black stuff and dry blood hangs out of her eye.
She stumbles dropping something out of her hand.
This is what surprises me. The walker girl leans over and picks up what she has dropped then starts shuffling our way.
She makes louder groans and moans and starts running toward us.
I pause.
I look around and find a huge bag.
I turn around open the bag fast.
"Jake help me get the girl in the bag!" I say.
"What?"
The girl runs for me and Jake tackles her to the ground.
"Jake don't hurt her."
"She is dead already."
He holds her down while she moans and snaps her teeth at Jake.
"Do you have anything in your bag so that I can tie her mouth shut?" I ask.
"Yeah I have a small rope."
I open his bag and get the rope. I tie her mouth so now she just moans. She stops struggling and soon just looks at me and Jake.
"Why did you have me tie her up? Why not just slice her head off?" Jake asks.
Jake finishes by putting the girl in the big sack.
"I think she might be like Christian. I saw her act human. I didn't want to kill her if she might be another cure."
"She is not another cure Cassidy. She tried to attack us. She had blood all over her she has already been eating someone. She's dead." Jake says.
"She is not dead!" I yell at him.
I look down at the sack and her legs are softly kicking. She makes quiet moans.
"Jake. You have to carry her back to the car. Okay?" I say.
"No. I'm not leaving without you." He argues.
"Jake. Your not leaving me your just going to wait for me back at the car. Okay?"
"I'm not leaving Cassidy. I will never leave your side again." He says.
"Jake. Go. Now." My voice goes hard and I can hardly recognize my own voice.
He has a sad look in his eye the his face hardens. He picks up the sack over his shoulder.
"Ready?" He says.
"Are you sure about this Jake?" I ask.
"I'm sure." He says.
We continue walking looking for Sam or Christian.
This time we have a huge dog following and a walker girl.
I just want to find Sam.
