The Beginning

Part 8

    

                                          Cassidy

I walk to the room and open the door slowly holding my katana in my other hand ready if she tries something.

She is just sitting on the bed when I walk in.

I put my katana back in its sleeve.

"Nice sword." She says eyeing me.

"It is." I say.

"So are you here to punish me now for hurting your little boyfriend." She says.

" No and he is not my boyfriend." I say with my unrecognizable voice.

"Oh, then that other guy is. What's his name? Jake I believe." She says.

"Nope. He is not my boyfriend either." I say.

"You don't have one?" She says.

"I have one. He is just not here right now." I say.

"Where is he?" She asks getting up.

"None of your business. Now enough of me. What's with you?" I ask.

She looks at me and sits back down.

She thought she could try and trick me with mind games, well that's not gonna work. Nothing can get in my head.

"What about me?" She says.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"I told you I'm Alaska." She says.

"I know that but who is Alaska?"I ask.

I lean against the wall and wait.

"I'm Alaska. I used to live in that target before you trashed it. I would never starve because I was dead all the time. That's how I survived. My father and I survived for a long time. Until a group passed by and shot him in the head. I was right there when it happened. I saw his brains fly out of the back of his head. Have you ever witnessed that? "

"No." I say.

"That's exactly what I thought. When that happened I broke into a million pieces. I lost control over myself. I lost my humanity. Everyone loses some one eventually right before there eyes. " She says.

I stay silent.

I cross the room and open the closet.

"Here. There's a river in the back of the house where you can bathe. We are leaving tomorrow morning, be ready." I say tossing some clothes to her.

"Where are we going?" She asks.

"You'll see tomorrow." I say.

I walk to the front of the house and I run into Joey.

"Hey Joey."

"Hi Cassidy." He doesn't smile.

"You okay Joey?"

"Have you found my brother?" He says.

"No. But I promise Joey, I'm gonna find him. I'm going to search for him tomorrow morning."

"I'm going."

"I'm fine with that. We leave at sunrise."
