~outside of the hospital~

klaus pov

i stand there in front of the hospital with layla in front of me my arms wrapped around her waist. "So the doppelgänger isn't the problem. Her blood is the solution" rebekah says. "Seems so" i tell her while my thumb draws patterns on the back of layla's hand. "How did you know?" rebekah asks. "Well, you know how much the original witch hated me. Do you honestly think I would do anything other than the opposite of what she says?" i ask her and layla giggles. "A thousand years in the grave and she's still screwing with you" rebekah mutters.

"Well, it makes sense if you think about it from her perspective. It was her failsafe in case I ever broke the hybrid curse. The doppelgänger had to die in order for me to become a hybrid, but if she was dead..." i trail off. "Then you couldn't use her blood to sire yourself a new species" rebekah finishes for me. "Leaving me alone for all time but what she didn't expect was me finding my mate" i tell her and kiss layla's hair. "Is that what this is about? Your obsession with hybrids. You just don't want to be alone?" rebekah asks.

"is that all you got from what i said? What I want is to take my girl, her sister, and my hybrid the hell out of this one pony town. You know, why don't you, uh, why don't you get the truck with layla? I'll get Elena" i say and She leaves with layla. Damon arrives. "Well, look who finally decided to show up to the party" i say as i look at damon. "Where is she?" damon demands. "Elena? Ah, she's making a donation to a greater cause" i tell him. Damon goes toward the hospital but i stop him "I'm afraid I can't let you interfere, mate" i tell him. "You'll have to kill me" damon tells me.

"Oh, I would love to kill you, but I made a pledge to your brother, and unlike him, I keep my word. Although, you know what, thinking about it now, he probably doesn't care that much anymore" i tell him and push him up against a car about to kill him "Don't you want to know about your friend Mikael?" he asks and i freeze. "What do you know about Mikael?" i ask tone deadly.

"Just that he knows you're here and that you have a weakness and he knows what or should i say who it is" damon says. "You're bluffing" i snarl. "Katherine and I found him. Consider it our leverage" damon says. i throw him on the ground and disappear. im going to have to keep an eye on layla.

3rd pov

(Mikael is interrogating Stefan)

"Is Klaus out of the country?" mikael asks stefan. "I can't tell you" stefan tells him. "Has he spoken to you since he left?" he asks. "I can't tell you" stefan says again. mikael sighs "All right. Can you tell me the last time you spoke to Niklaus?" he asks. "I'm compelled to do what he says, and he says to keep my damn mouth shut" stefan tells him. "I really hope this game of 20 questions isn't your secret weapon" damon mutters.

"You see, Damon... (he puts his hand on Damon's shoulder) I've been a vampire hunter longer than you've been alive. It's why I found you here. It's why I'm gonna find Niklaus" he tells him.  "Well, Klaus has been running for about thousand years, so if you think you can get a work around here..." damon trails off. Mikael slams his fist into Damon's chest and clutches his heart "Careful, Stefan. One move - and his heart's gone. (plunges his hand deeper) Now, where is Klaus? What's the trick question, Stefan? One twist and he's dead. Unless you don't care of course" he says.

"His emotions have been shut off. He can't care" damon gasps. "Really? His link to Klaus is so strong that he will let his own brother die?[beat] No ideas, hmm? Think, Stefan! I guess you're right. He's a dead end. And so are you, Damon" he says. "Wait! I can bring him back. I can lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls" stefan says. Mikael takes his hand out of Damon's chest and wipes it off with a rag. "And there is our loophole. Just had to rile him up a bit. Get Klaus back to Mystic Falls, and I will gladly drive a stake through his heart. Fail, I'll drive it through yours" mikaels threatens.
