Once I blink, I snap my gaze out of the crystal blue eyes.

"Hey wait, don't I know you from somewhere?" He asks.

"From school, no duh," I reply, with an eye roll.

"Oh! You were the-"

I interrupt him, "Yeah, the one you bumped into yesterday," I point out.

He opens his mouth, but then closes it, a smile beginning to start, "Yeah...sorry again, I was actually going to say you're in my dramatic arts class."

I raise my eyebrows, "You finally remember? I'm surprised, cause I'm pretty sure we were in the same class for the past 4 years," I say.

"Really? Anyways...." he starts.

"This is my bag. Now, if you just let me take it-" I say.

He interrupts me, "No, I'm pretty sure I know my own black bag," he says as we both pull it up and eventually unzip a part of the bag.

I feel embarrassed when pieces of clothing and 2 of my bras I was planning to return, falls out.

"Oops! Sorry again! I thought this was my bag..." he says when he spots the exact same one on the other side of the main tree, "oh, found it."

"Here..." he helps pick some of my stuff up.

Irritation grows on my face, "UGH! I'm just holding them for a friend....oh, here she comes right now..." I say, "Can you PLEASE leave now? Bye!" I push him to the opposite side.

He leaves, with confusion on his face.

Adeline comes back with her smoothie in hand, "Hey, what was that all about? And yes, don't deny anything...I did notice that- you tend to underestimate me a lot," she says.

I groan, "Ugh, you saw that? It was nothing. He kind of thought my bag was his...and we unzipped the bag. Yeah....I'm not pressing the scene any further," I say.

"Wow, really? I never knew I was missing out on that much!" She says.

"Ugh!" I groan as I playfully punch her on the arm. I decided that I wouldn't tell her I blamed those things on her.

I wouldn't want him to notice me anymore than he already does. No one knew this but, his younger sister, Kaitlyn, and I used to be best friends. Key word: USED to. We kind of had a dramatic "friendship breakup" in my sophomore (her freshmen) year.

She changed, not me. During the summer before high school started for her, I went on vacation for almost the whole summer break, and we lost touch for a whole 2 months. I came back and when high school started for her, she was different.

She had red highlights in her dirty blond hair, a nose ring-which I'm still pretty sure her parents NEVER approved of. I visited her house before, and her parents were strict. Strict isn't even a word to describe it. She wore dark clothes, and some that showed much more skin then necessary. I couldn't even believe her parents let her out of the house.

I never knew much about her brother, just that he was a grade older than she was, meaning she's only a junior in high school right now.

She was doing so well with her grades. At least, better than I was, and she just somehow threw it all away for, you can say, "popularity," or whatever she thinks she is. Getting this far, should never stop her from continuing.

Some say she changed because of her so-called other friends, while others say, she reflected off from her brother. Either way, I never liked either of them, nor ever want to.

After our mall trip, we head over to Adeline's house while we text Tristan to come over. We get out the snacks and games for our upcoming fun night.

When Tristan comes over, we choose a movie on Netflix while I chew on gummy bears.

"Since it's our last year...." Tristan starts.

I interrupt him, "Ugh, don't remind me..." I say.

"You don't want to move on from high school? It's when we can start living our lives, Joy! When we're officially considered "grown adults"" Adeline says.

"I don't think you'll ever be considered a grown adult, Adeline," Tristan says as I laugh.

"So....what were you going to say Tristan?" Adeline asks him.

"Since it's our last year, we need to fully live it, you know?" He says with a smile, while I lift an eyebrow, "We are all going to a party next weekend!"

But before I can say my opinion, Adeline interjects, "Yes!! I'm in already! What do you say, Joy? Nevermind, you're going even if I have to drag you there. Wait-you might be heavy so....Tristan, wanna help?"

Tristan nods, "Definitely!"

"Hey! I'm right here you know! I'm probably going to be busy anyways," I say.

"Pshh. What? You, busy on a weekend? Ha! Doing what? Visiting the library? Joy....you can do that any other day!" Adeline whines while Tristan just nods.

"Ugh, fine, I don't think my vote matters any more in this friendship of ours," I say.

Tristan smiles, "Yay! Okay, it's settled then! Us, next Saturday, huckleberry's house, at 7-"

I must've heard him wrong, "Wait, can you repeat that?" I ask.

"At 7?" Tristan asks.

"No, the other thing."

"Next Saturday?"

"No, the other thing!" I say.

"At huckleberry's house?"

"Yeah, that..." I say in a curious tone. Why does that name sound so familiar?

Huckleberry.....hucklebe-

Kaitlyn Huckleberry.
