We left soon after, and arrived at the school 10 minutes before any other students did.
Opening the office door, I led the boys in, and the secretary looked up.
"Have you gotten an entourage?"
I laughed slightly, and shook my head. "No. This is my brother Jake Hickman, his friend Adrian Smith, and my friend Braden Barry. With a 'y'. They're enrolling here."
She nodded, typing away. "Okie dokie. Just sign here." She looked at the boys. "You three okay with having the same schedule? And we'll try to make them as close to Chelsea's as possible." She studied her screen for a minute, then looked at me. "You guys can have all your classes together, except for gym. Is that okay?"
I nodded. "That's perfect. Then they can't see how bad I am at sports!"
We laughed, and after printing up our schedules, and handing them to us, we headed to our lockers.
"Braden, you an share with me. Jake and Adrian, share the one next to mine."
They nodded, and I spoke again. "So, you guys have choir with me. Jake, Adrian, I hope you guys can sing, because these people want to be famous, and they're harsh. I only made it because of the solo I was made to do this one time."
They nodded.
"Oh, and we have it first period. Homeroom just takes attendance for the morning."
We headed toward homeroom, and Braden laced his fingers through mine, somehow sensing my anxiety.
Walking into homeroom, people stared.
One guy whistled. I whirled around to find one of the football players staring at my ass.
I flipped him off, and he smiled. "Any time, baby!"
I started to walk over to him, but Braden squeezed my hand. "Hey, not worth it, hon." He whispered.
I went to a seat in the back, and Braden sat next to me.
But Jake wasn't okay with it.
He was headed over toward the guy, and looked mad.
"You think you can talk to my sister like that?"
The football player turned around. "Excuse me?"
"I said, do you think you can talk to my sister like that?"
The football player puffed up his chest. "Try something. I dare you, new kid."
So Jake did.
He swung, and I heard the crunch of a blow to the nose, and saw the blood.
I ran over to where Jake had tackled the player, and was swinging again.
I used all of my strength, and with Braden and Adrian helping, we pulled Jake off of him.
He struggled against our grip, but I slapped him in the face, and he looked at me.
"Stop it. You're embarrassing me, and you're being foolish." I let go of his arm, and walked over to the football player, helped him up, and took him to the nurse.
"I'm sorry about that. He's really protective." I apologized once we were in the hall.
The football player spoke. "It's cool. He's really tough. And I didn't know you had a brother."
I nodded. "Neither did I for a while. Until recently. He's only half, but barely a year older than me."
"I'm Alex."
He stuck out a bloody hand, and I recoiled.
Alex noticed his hand, and quickly pulled it away. "Sorry," He chuckled.
"I'm Chelsea."
He nodded. "I know. I just want to apologize for being so rude to you for so long. I guess it was just because everyone else was."
I smiled half way. "It's cool, as long as you'll maybe help stick up for me?"
He nodded. "Yeah. You guys wanna sit with us at lunch? I'll tell them you guys are with me."
"Thanks." We had just entered the nurses office.
Her eyes widened when she saw Alex.
"What happened?"
"Oh, my friend and I were playing a game, and I somehow accidentally hit myself." Alex lied smoothly, and laughed.
I laughed along. "Yeah. He's such a klutz sometimes!" I smiled, and turned to Alex. "I'm gonna go back to class. See you later?"
He smiled. "Yeah."
"See you then."
