Delilah was actually really pissed. First, the call in the morning then, driving about 20 kilometers to this shitty village. She couldn't understand why she even agreed to pick James up from here. Maybe she just wanted to clear things off and then leave him here.

Drinking the latte she bought on her way she checked the time on her phone.
6:30 am.

"I swear this will be the last time I'll ever see him."

She called James and confirmed his exact location, where she found him sitting on the threshold of a shop still closed. Seeing him like that infuriated Delilah further. What kind of a man was he? He couldn't even stand up for himself!

Getting out of her car she walked towards him. He immediately stood up on seeing her walk angrily towards him.

"What the hell James?? How did you even get here?"

"Listen Deli, I know you're upset. Let's just talk about this later, baby. Let's go home."

"No. Don't you dare baby me!! I'm asking for explanations and I'm not leaving without them!"

"FINEE!! I was at a bar-"

"You're always at a bar!" Delilah cut him.

"-and there was this girl-"

"And there's always a girl!" she huffed.

"For God's sake, just shut up! She brought me here. And she stole all my money and everything I had, after- you know- after we-"

"Fucked. I know James. There's nothing new. And don't act like you're guilty. I know you're not. So stop lying."

"I'm sorry baby. I promise this won't happen again. Let's just go back to our lovely home."

Delilah was about to say something when she was distracted by the immediate thundering of the clouds. The sky was clear this morning and there was no indication of rain or thunder. Nevertheless she continued.

"Aw baby, I know this won't happen again because, you'll not get a chance to do this again. Oh and that our home you were just talking about. It's my home now." Saying this she flipped her hair back and started walking towards her car when she noticed the first drops of rain falling on her face.

"Oh fu-"

"Baby? Are you serious? What about driving me back to town? And what about my contributions in buying the house? And what about every fucking thing we had? You can't do this Delilah. Where in the world will I stay?"

"Listen just find a way back. And your contributions? You only contributed money. I'll pay you whatever you contributed once I get back. And I don't really care about whatever we had because you didn't care. Lastly, just spend your night with your one night stands. I don't really care because that's all you know how to do. Goodbye."

It started to rain that second and taking advantage of the Delilah's clumsiness, James snatched the car keys from her hand. He saw her struggle to get them back. He wasn't just going to admit to whatever she said. He tried to push her away from the car door but she was persistent. Delilah's stubborn attitude was the thing he hated the most. So he just grabbed her shoulders and pushed her with half his strength, because only half of it was enough for her, away from the door and onto the ground.

Till the time Delilah struggled to get up, she was completely drenched in the pouring rain. She was so disappointed that James pushed her in this way and drove off knowing she was hurt.

She started running to where the road led her, searching for shelter here and there. She arrived at an unimaginably big mansion which was completely dilapidated. The rain became more violent and the water droplets more harsh so she decided to go into the house although she wasn't sure if she should. It would be rude to go barging in someone's house. As she went in through the large iron gates, past the unkept garden growing hedges and thorns now, she couldn't help but notice small details like the peeling paint from the walls, the green algal bloom on the moist areas on the walls and also the pathway. The visible bricks through the cracks in between provided a very ancient look and the front door which was loose from its hinges made her sure of no one living here.

While noticing the trifle details, Delilah missed out on a very important one. What she didn't see was the big board outside the mansion reading "HAUNTED".
