"Send them to me." I told RM.
"You know if you joined my group you'd have quicker access to any info you'd need." he nagged me.
"Some other time."
"You always say that." RM chuckled and hung up.
I glanced at V. His eyes were wide. We were so focused on our conversation earlier that I forgot we were drenched from the rain. I took off my shirt, walking towards my bathroom. It didn't matter if he saw my body since he has already seen it before. I grabbed a towel and threw it at him. As I was getting dry clothes to change in he spoke up.
"Is Jimin your real name?"
"Yeah, Chim is a cover-up."
"I knew there was something off about it. It's a bit too funny to be real." he blurted.
Yeah it is kind of funny. I dried my hair the best I could with the towel leaving it in its damp and messy state. I ran my fingers through the top just to keep it out of my face. I put on a pair of sweats and a simple shirt. I gave V the same.
"What about you? Is V you real name?"
As he changed he stopped for a moment. His expression became darker. "I-I don't remember my real name. I only know what she gave me."
What could have happened to him to forget his own name? I grabbed his chin to move his head around, so I could examine it.
"Hmmm... You look like a Jack? Or maybe a Tae." he stared deeply into my face. The corners of his mouth slightly curling up.
"Tae sounds nice." he smiled.
My chest felt like it was about to burst his smile was so perfect. I haven't seen him look so happy and it was almost too much for me to comprehend. His aura was so inviting... I took a step back. Maybe he was just charming me.
A notification sounded at my small desk.
I went to it and opened the files RM sent me. He was a blessing. I was lucky that he was so keen on making me want to join and showing me the amount of information, he had access to. Maybe I should consider joining his rebel group.
"What is this?" I didn't realize Tae was over my shoulder looking at the screen. As I skimmed through the documents it became clear to me that my theory was correct.
"I'm right."
Tae pointed at the screen. "Is that...?"
"Proof that vampires are just a mutation? Yeah."
"Wouldn't that mean that there's a cure?" he sounded hopeful.
"Maybe, but from what I can understand from this the mutation is so strong that they are already dead. Look here" I pointed at an image "Their cells are completely destroyed and the only thing keeping them alive is the oxygen in human blood." I almost forgot Tae was a turned vampire. This information might be hard for him to hear.
"So, the cure would only kill me." He finished my thought.
"Not much of a cure is it?" I failed at trying to lighten up the mood.
"Yeah. I guess I only have two choices. Living as a monster or dying." He ran his fingers through his smooth hair and plopped onto the couch. I could tell he felt defeated.
"Sometimes things can't be changed, so you just have to learn to live with it." I touched my neck, my fingertips brushing against my scars. "But that doesn't mean you should give up." I added. I sat beside him again. "Ever since you freed me I've been trying to find a way to take the vampire organization down. I don't want more people to suffer like we have. I want you to have a life again." The last part left my lips accidentally. I didn't mean to admit this fact.
He seemed slightly confused. "How can you still be so good even after everything?" he leaned in close to me. "I love that about you." This caught me off guard. His hand on my face was cooling in contrast to my flushed skin. His thumb brushed my bottom lip. The feeling sent shivers through me. I could feel the curiosity building inside of me. Why does his closeness feel so natural?
"Thank you for making my dark life a little brighter." He whispered.
He leaned in closer and I could barely hear him over the sound of my own pulse. I never felt this way for anyone, perhaps he meant more to me then I had previously thought. Or maybe it was just an odd connection we had, made by him feeding from me for so long.
His lips were now only a small distance away from mine.
Why was I feeling this way?
I leaned in, closing the gap between us.
