Chapter 8

(Maxwell's POV)

As the night progressed I could see her pain ease. I had coated the burns with aloe. After she had already sat in a cold bath for a few minutes. She only wore the clothes necessary and quite frank I didn't care. I only cared about her getting better and beating Mack to a pulp. She squinted and looked up at the ceiling. "M-maxey" she said with pain in her tone. "Hmm" I hummed. "I-i'm starving." She said as her sromach rumbled. I had almost forgot the food. I had picked up some Chinese Takeout. "It's a little cold" I said handing it to her. She ate it but every bite brought pain. She had burns everywhere. I couldn't hurt mack only show Eli. He could do something about it.

She finished eating and I looked over at her. I got up and she stared at the wall. I grabbed a dark blue tee and walked over to her. I helped her put it on and I grabbed her hand. "Can you walk?" She shook her head no. I picked her up and carried her to Eli's room. She winced in pain.

I set her down apon entering and I placed her right in front of Eli. "Fix this" I said in a demanding tone. "Wh- oh my what happened to her." I got furious just thinking about the situation. "Mack sat her directly in the sun and left her there to burn. I guess he moved her there when she was sleeping." "Hmmm, can she move?" "I mean well barley." "Okay you can bring it up to the council tommorrow." "Eli, why make me wait!!" I practically yelled. "I might be a lord but we only kill humans." He shooed me and her away. I scooped her up and carried her back to my room. I put her on the bed and immediately got to work on the trial case. This could take me all night, but I will do it for her.

"M-maxey." She was awake?! I looked at the clock it was almost 7am!! The sun was rising. "Yes" I said spining around to face her. "W-what will I-I w-wear today." Oh lord!! I forgot about having to look good at a court case. "Hmm, I can pick something out for you" I replied hastily. She nodded her head and I returned to work. Around 2 ish I got up and left for the store. She was watching a movie and I placed Alex in charge of watching her. Alex was a very close friend of... mine.

I reached one of the fancy stores in town. Deciding apon a navy blue dress to match my suit.

When I arrived back to the castle it was becoming dark meaning the council meeting was about to start. I shooed Alex off after thanking him and walked over toward Brair. When she noticed me ahe jumped with joy. "Maxey!" She exclaimed hugging me tight. I patted her back and we plopped on the bed. "Here B" I said holding out her dress. She took it and tried it on in the bathroom. I could see the discomfort she had. I felt bad I could do nothing she was burned. When she came out I had to stop my mouth from dropping she looked stunning.
