Chapter 16

(Brair's POV)

I woke up the next morning in pain. Maxey had his arm wrraped tightly around me. I had a pounding headache and my stomach was still in knots, but I didn't want to wake Maxwell up he looks so peaceful when he is sleeping. I tried to pry his arm off my stomach but his grip got tighter and he pulled me even closer to him, if that was even possible.

A few minutes passed and nothing had changed. I looked toward the door and saw a shadowy figure standing in it. I whimpered and shook maxey. "Brair, what is it?" He said rubbing his eyes. I pointed at the door and he pulled me closer. "Whos there?" His voice boomed. "Son how could you not recognize your father?"

Huh? "Maxey I thought your father d-disregarded a-all c-contact with you?" I questioned. His arms gripped tighter around me. "This is not my father Brair, he's the low life scum of the underworld." "Ohhh so this is Brair" the man said stepping into the room. "Nice to meet you Brair, hey who knows maybe one day I'll be your father in law!" He smirked down at me. My face turned stiff after realizing this was the man from my dream. All signs of my headache and stomachache where gone and replaced with fear. "Maxey!!!" I yelled. "Brair shhhh I'm right here" he gripped me tighter and looked me dead in the eyes. "Thats the m-man f-from my d-dream." I cried the salty tears falling down my face and dropping onto Maxwell's shirt. "Aww why the tears. I was just having fun." I felt myslef sliping into a anxiety attack. I started violently shaking and tears rapidly steaming down my face. Maxwell grabbed my hand and put it over his chest. "Brair breath like I do" he satated. "In and out in and out." I felt his breathing and tried to copy it. Soon my breathing became normal and my shaking stopped. "Oh Brair thank goodness you're okay!" I heared the blue man state. He started chuckling. "Well I just wanted to see my son's love now that I've gotten a glimpse I must be off." He vanished.

"Maxwell how did he know you." "Brair that's my stepfather. Trust me I hate him just as much as you do." I looked down and blinked my tears away. "Hey Brair he is gone. It's okay lets do something to get your mind off him, yeah?" I nodded and he got up. "Come on let's go swimming."

I got changed after Maxwell. "Ready" he asked. "Yeah let's go." I grabbed his hand and we walked out the door. Our hotel was on the beach, so since the pool was closed we went down there.

When we reached the beach my nostrils flared with the smell of the sea. I dropped Maxwell's hand and ran into the ocean. He just laughed at me. "Come on." I pleaded. He huffed and walked right next to where the ocean met the shore and steped in. I walked over toward him and pulled him in further. "Come on the sand bar is just over there. He smiled down at me and followed. We got up on the sandbar and looked out over the vast ocean. I looked over at Maxwell and he looked up at the moon. He mouthed an 'oh' before looking back at me. "Brair wanna head back inside?" "Sure" I grabbed his hand and we walked back to shore seeming as how the water was still shallow.

We reached the shore and I grabbed my towel that was set on a beach chair. I wrraped myself in it because I was cold and dripping wet. My lips turned bule and maxey looked down at me and made a sad face. "You're that cold?" I nodded. "Come here" he said wrraping me in a hug. For an odd reason he was much warmer than me but then I had to rember he also wasn't like me. He was a vampire. I got out of his hug and grabbed his hand. We walked back up to the hotel. We where stopped by Gavin shouting to us from the bar. I looked up at Maxwell and he looked so embarrassed. We walked over to Gavin and he was surrounded by other -drunk- males. "Heyo guys come sit down" his words where slurred. "Gavin why did you come to the bar?" Maxey said laughter in his tone. We took a seat next to Gavin and his "friends." "Bar's are fun live a little Maxwell." Gavin nuged him. I was sitting on the other side of Maxwell next to two empty bar stools. A bartender came up to where Maxwell was sitting. Her shirt unbuttoned exposing way more than needed and she was wearing a really short skirt. "Hi what can I get you" she asked in a flirty tone. Maxwell was uncomfortable I could tell. "Brair do you want anything?" I shook my head, "just a water." "Okay, two waters than." The girl looked over at me and huffed. I looked up at Maxwell and he was at the brink of bursting out in laughter. "Gavin I think it best if you come up to the hotel room soon" Maxwell suggested. "No I'm good" he siad hiccuping. "Alright buddy we are gonna go." He patted Gavins back and took my hand. "Oh and we got you some water." I couldn't contain my laughter and started to giggle. "You're adorable when you do that." Maxwell said. "What giggle?" "Yeah" he gripped my hand tighter. "Thanks."

Oh my god a double update! Wow! 😂 I am trying to work more on finishing this book which is why I'm updating whenever I feel like from now on. So yay! There is also gonna be a sequel. This book will have 30-40 chapters and then there will be the second book. That's all I can say for now.
