"can you please stay the night?" i beg iridessa.

"i can't. i have to go to my moms thingy tomorrow. she's getting some type of award or something."

"see?? you don't even know what it's for. it must not be that special to you. please iridessa." i give her the puppy eyes.

"ehh," she thinks for a moment. i'm not worried. she wouldn't pass over a sleepover.

"okay fine" she says hyper-ly.

"thank you." i plop back onto my bed.

"now what?" she asks, bored already.

"i have an idea" my mind sparks.

"oh no. that's your i have a plan face." she puts her hand on her hip.

"let's facetime ethan."

"bex, you don't have-"

"come on. i know i don't have to prove he loves me. but i want to. here's the plan. we facetime him. i'll say i have to go to the bathroom, but when i leave the room i'll stand outside the door and listen. just talk about me. okay?" i finish with a proud smirk on my face.

"i'm in" she high fives me.

iridessa is my partner in crime. we do everything together. that's how it's always been. we do sneaky things to find out stuff, and we talk to boys for each other, etc.

i unlock my phone and open the facetime app. i find ethan's contact and take a breath before calling him. after a couple rings, i see

connecting..

at the top of the screen. i set my phone up on my bed and we sit on my floor. it finally connects and he has the biggest smile on his face.

"hiiii" we all say at once.

his smile lights up my world.

"did you need anything" he asks, concerned.

"no we were just bored" i shrugged.

"phew. you scared me, baby" he mumbled.

okay. that was hot.

"oh crap. hey i have to go to the bathroom," i laughed, "iridessa, keep him entertained" i giggled once more before walking out of the room, leaving the door slightly cracked. i quietly sit down behind the door, eavesdropping.

"so what's up" ethan laughs awkwardly.

he's so cute omg

"nothing much, haha. just spending time with bexley. she's so great"

"i know, she definitely is" ethan responds. a smile creeps upon my face.

"yeah," she sighs, "you must really care about her"

"i do. i wouldn't trade her for the world. the whole time we were apart, everything was so dark."

"really? at school you're always-"

"i know. i'm the big, tough jock that everyone is scared of talking to. i always smile and crack jokes. but that wasn't me at all. not without bex." he starts talking quietly, he sounds upset remembering everything.

"wow" iridessa huffs.

"i don't even know why i'm spilling my feelings to her best friend" he chuckles. i giggle, but quietly so he doesn't here.

"well. she's both of our other halves. yours as a lover, mine as a sister. it's my job to protect her. her business is mine, my business is hers." she says proudly.

she should really take a theatre class.

"i guess" he almost questions. aw. he doesn't understand girl stuff, haha.

should i go back in now? or wait a little longer? i kinda like hearing this convo.

"ethan can i tell you something"

what.

"uh sure" he says uncomfortably.

"don't worry. it's not anything like what you're thinking." she reassures. i silently let out a breath of relief.

"then what is it??"

"you would never do anything to hurt bexley, right?"

my heart dropped. the plan was to not directly ask him.

"no," he says almost offended, "no, never. why would you think that?"

he sounds hurt.
okay, forget it. i'm walking back in my room.

"hey guys," i skip and sit back down on the floor, beside iridessa.

"hey baby, is it okay if i go?" his change in tone was so quick. he sounds so upset.

thanks iridessa.

"yeah of course. i love you baby" i pick up the phone and hold it up to my face, being silly. i hoped it would brighten the mood.

"i love you more" his voice cracked, and with that he hung up.
