KIARA'S POV

"Rice, can I talk to you....alone?", Alissa asks from outside Rice's bedroom.

"I..uh..", he says looking at me, I give him a 'go ahead' gesture with my hands, "sure."

Alissa slammed the door behind her loudly and I hear quiet mumbling from behind the door. I couldn't make out anything they were saying and I didn't wanna be rude and eavesdrop so I stayed where I was.

RICE'S POV

Alissa slams the door and turns to face me with a stern look, "Rice."

"What?", I ask, becoming worried by her tone, what could be so serious?

"I let you fuck her, in fact I let you keep her the next day, even after we found out she was problematic.", she says crossing her arms over her chest.

"What do you mean "I let you fuck her", are you implying I need your permission to have sex with someone? Alissa where are you going with this?.", I say feeling immediately offended, why is she bringing all this up now?

"Listen Rice, you did all that AND you brought her to the cloutgang dinner, I kept my mouth shut, even though we discussed that we were gonna drop her after the shoot. I see that you've seen the post, the TMZ one...and you commented on it"

"Well no one has an issue with her now"

"YES THEY DO!!", she shouted at me pulling a screenshot of instagram comments.

"There's something different about her, okay?"

"Rice, this isn't a movie where you can say sus shit like that and everything just gonna be okay in the end! It doesn't work like that! You guys are just temporary, she's just for your entertainment. You'll tell her you love her one day and cheat on her the next, you'll promise her the world and then-and then your assistant is gonna fly girls out and you're going to be fucking them every weekend and YOU'RE GOING TO BREAK HER HEART! Don't be like that Rice.", she says now in tears, shaking.

"Alissa, I'm not Jake"

She winces at the sound of his name, I don't know how she thinks I would do something like that, or be anything like Jake.

"Just listen to me now Rice, this isn't gonna work, whatever you're trying to do", she says before walking back to her room.

I walk back into my bedroom quietly, still speechless from what had just happened, it all happened extremely fast, speechless wouldn't be the word....blank.

"Is everything okay?", Kiara asks as I shut the door behind me.

"Yeah, yeah, everything's good"

She gives me a questioning look, like she didn't believe me.

"What time is it anyway?", I say looking around trying to cover the awkward silence.

"Oh shit, it's 12!", she says.

"We better go get your friend then, right?", I ask with a smile.

"Right.", she says with a grin as she gets off the bed to get her things, "Ugh, you have no idea how happy I am to see Lilly."

"This longest you've gone without her?", I ask as we walk into the garage.

"Mmhmm, feels like forever.", she says, taking the keys from my hand.

I give her a questing look, "Lemme get some practice at LA driving, ya know if I'm out here for a bit", she replies.

"Alright, just please don't kill us.", I laugh hopping into a car we had rented for the week, renting seemed to work better for me. That way when I got bored of something, I wouldn't be stuck with it.

"Why? do you not have good driving experiences?", She asks me, starting the gas.

"Normally, when Sommer and I hang out, she drives and Oh my God, every time I just think that we're gonna crash.", I say and notice Kiara's mood instantly change.

"Oh.", she says paying full attention to the road ahead of her and completely ignoring me.

"You two should get to know each other more, hang out", I suggest, sensing how tense Kiara was.

"I don't really think that's necessary, I know her well enough, I reckon.", she says taking a sharp left, causing me to slam into her as the car turns.

"Sorry", I say adjusting myself again, "At least, there weren't any other cars."

"Yeah, speaking of which, this is LA .... is there any place where there aren't any cars?"

"This is a shortcut."

"Shortcut? Hell no.", she says swiftly pulling over onto the side of the road.

"Wha-what's wrong? Why'd you stop?"

"I know nothing about this city at all, no way I'm taking a shortcut.", she says unbuckling her seatbelt.

"Well, do you want me to drive?", I ask. "I'll go the right way."

"That would be nice." She says stepping out of the car to enter the passenger's seat.

We drive in silence for a few minutes before she adds on, "Plus, I don't really trust you so"

"Oh."

"Don't take it personally though, just trust issues built up over the years."

"Oh."

"Yeah.", she says moving around uncomfortably.

"How long till we're at the airport", she asks.

"10 more minutes."

"I'm so excited you have no idea!", she exclaims grabbing onto arm with excitement.

"I'm glad you are.", I say looking over at her with a smile.

"So...uh... what did Alissa wanna talk to you about before?", she's asks, shifting her body to give me her full attention.

"Uh-uh....we-w.....uh", I stutter, trying to think of something.

"Just spit it out, Oh my God!"

"Uh, taxes."

"Taxes?", she says bursting out loud. "Taxes? Whatever you say"

"Yeah."

"I'm surprised Alissa hasn't said anything about me still being here though", she says going back onto her phone to text her friend.

"She's really on board with this whole thing...we have going"

"We're here!"
