Chapter 4

Amayra hesitated before she could climb up the hill, what happened yesterday was still replaying itself in her head. She was here actually taking a break since it was Friday same day she wrote her literature exam. Little hope was flickering in her thinking just maybe her new scary acquaintance will show up. She couldn't deny that he was undeniable good looking but good looking was not the word to describe him. Broad shoulders ,very plumpy pink lips, eyes so black like they could freeze your soul if they wanted to, he was tall to be precise, his body was well defined and anyone could see the power radiating off him. He was truly a king ,not just any king but a Fairy King. Amayra was disturbed in her thoughts when she felt something land on her lap. A red rose. Roses were very rare in Loam Hedge and Dysart Kingdom. She couldn't help but smile when she thought about where it came from. It smelt so sweet and fresh.
"Any man would be jealous at your connection with the flower, "King Azarioth chuckled as he stood behind her.
"Any woman would die at your lack of letting them know that you have arrived, "said Amayra holding her chest.
"That's harsh, "said King Azarioth.
"Oh please, stop sneaking up on me, "said Amayra.
"You know roses have different meanings, "said King Azarioth as he sat down.
"Use a rose to say sorry or thank you or get better or i like you or give me a god damn chance to take you out or I love you, "grinned Amayra as she looked at him.
"You know your flowers, "said King Azarioth.
"Loam Hedge's Most Curious Girl Alive, "chuckled Amayra.
"I took note of that too, "said King Azarioth.
"Too? "asked Amayra as she picked the petals one by one.
"I just gave you that ,be a little appreciative Ama. Secondly you are terrible blunt, you have no flitter in your mouth. Thir-, "Amayra cut him off before he could finish.
"Talking about rude! Are you trying to say I never watch my words before I say them? Because you got me a stupid flower, that does not give you a right to say that about me, "scoffed Amayra as she glared at him.
"Thirdly, nothing seem to scare you and fourthly, you are undeniable melodramatic, "smirked King Azarioth.
"Imbecile, "said Amayra. "You don't know me. "
"Calling me an imbecile is another level of disrespect, "glared King Azarioth.
"Thinking you know me is another level of disrespect. Got another theory to say to me ?Cause I just realized it's my turn to cook today, "said Amayra and left as soon as he kept quiet, watching her.
As soon as she disappeared, the stones around floated and snapped into dust. Eyes slit like an animal in fury and turned bloody red as the wind brushed aggressively the trees and grass threatening to remove them from their roots.
Amayra stood there at the edge of the forest, watching in horror. This was beyond natural disasters. Fairy magic. Even if she never experienced fairy magic but she has learnt about what happens when a fairy is angry.
She couldn't understand why he was angry. He could have killed her if she stayed but he didn't. Why?

"Amayra you came back just in time, "said Mrs Aldenmore as she stood at the door.
"For what? "asked Amayra.
"Your in laws are here, "snorted Eva.
"The Empress just wanted to see her daughter in law, "said Adela arriving at the door.
"Sometimes I wonder if you ever go home, "chuckled Ella.
"I'm staying here until we finish our last exam on Monday, "grinned Adela.
"I'm not marrying Daniel, "said Amayra scoffing.
"You have no choice Ama, "Mrs Aldenmore said as she jabbed a finger on Amayra's chest. Amayra stood there firmly.
"Is everything alright? "asked the Empress as she stood on the passage hall. She was beautiful with hazel eyes and black hair. She was medium size with a figure of a wasp or hourglass. Pale skin so clear sometimes you would think she was swimming for a couple of hours to get that kind of colour. Nobody understood why she married the Emperor. They didn't even suit each other, nobody would say that out loud unless they wanted to lose their heads.
"Empress Charday, "bowed Amayra.
"No daughter in law of mine will bow to me, "said Empress Charday. Amayra huffed as she walked in and went straight to the sitting room. As soon as she walked in, Amayra wanted to turn around and leave.
"Oh Amayra, come and sit down, "said Emperor Charday as Daniel opened a chair next to him for her. Instead she sat opposite him leaving him standing.
"She's a rebel, "said Empress Charday sitting next to Amayra and everybody else filled the table. Amayra was far gone as soon as they started eating. She couldn't get the Fairy King out of her head.
"Ama are you okay? "asked Daniel.
"Been stressing myself over the History exam we'll be writing soon, "said Amayra while still thinking.
"Miss Ama can I have a word with you, privately, "said Empress Charday as she stood and walked out with Amayra behind her.
They walked around the back yard, Amayra just followed behind. The Empress led them to middle of the garden surrounded by maize. Soon the middle glowed in a brown colour.
"Earth Fairy, "said Amayra shocked.
"Kidnapped and raped by the Emperor about 19 years ago. I'm what you call a descendant of the original sirens, "said Empress Charday as Amayra stood there shocked.
"No wonder you are beautiful, you are a mermaid and that's why you don't attend everything, "said Amayra shocked.
"I'm afraid my son is much more like his father, "said Empress Charday .
"A chip off the old block, "sighed Amayra.
"Your personality reminds me of the old mermaid I was, "said Empress Charday.
"I'm sorry but I don't want to marry your son ever on my last breath,"said Amayra.
"Amayra! "called Mrs Aldenmore.
"Listen to me carefully Amayra. Don't let Daniel get a chance to take you otherwise many people are going to die. Loam Hedge and Dysart Kingdom's life depends on you. See beyond what you usually see on the Fairy King as you are the only one who can stop him for killing us all, "said Empress Charday holding Amayra's arm tightly.
"Why me? "asked Amayra. The Empress grew more whiter than before, you could see brown lines allover her face and arms. "Somebody help me! "Amayra screamed as felt her pulse she was breathing. Everybody was there as soon as they heard her scream. The Emperor's guards picked her up and headed for the carriage.
"Mind telling us what happened, "said the Emperor curiously. Amayra looked at him skeptically remembering what the Empress told her and that made her sick.
"She didn't manage to finish. She said something about trying my best to understand Daniel cause he wants me, only me as his future wife .She was about to tell me about how she met you but everything started glowing. It's like she was being drained by something, "said Amayra sadly. "She's a fairy. "Everyone else looked shocked except the Chardays.
"I'm sorry Valeria but your daughter has to come with us as soon as she finishes her exams, "said Emperor Charday as they both stood up.
"I understand Your Highness, "bowed Mrs Aldenmore. The son and father walked out. Amayra watched them leave with their carriage.
"Mama I cannot go to Dysart Kingdom, "said Amayra slowly.
"Why? "asked Mrs Aldenmore.
"Cause everyone will die including all of you. The Fairy King will kill all of you if I marry Daniel, "said Amayra.
"Why would he kill us? "asked Ella.
"Somehow I can stop him from doing so, I don't understand also, "huffed Amayra.
"Is this what the Empress said? "asked Mrs Aldenmore.
"You can't surely believe her, Emperor Charday already told us what his wife is capable of,what a siren is capable of, "Adela said.
"She's just being a siren, she don't want Daniel to be happy, "said Mrs Aldenmore.
"You don't believe me? "asked Amayra shocked.
"You always found an excuse to reject Daniel, "said Mrs Aldenmore.
"Why would I lie about this? "asked Amayra.
"Tell us Ama, "said Mrs Aldenmore.
"Sometimes I wish Dad was still alive. Despite everything he would have believed me no matter what. He would have chosen my side too, "said Amayra teary and ran out of the sitting room.

She was barefoot as she ran towards god knows where. When she finally made it to the Great River her feet were numb and thorns managed to pierce her skin but she didn't care. She washed her face on the water. The moon was starting to come out shining on the river. She sat on the stones on the river watching the water as she cried.
"Amayra, "whispered a voice. Amayra looked around but found no one.
"Who is that? "asked Amayra.
"In the water, "said  the voice. Amayra looked at the water to find two glowing eye.
"Empress, "said Amayra sighing.
"Fairies are dangerous and would kill any human getting in their way. Fairy King is interested in you and it's against the rules to tell you why .You marry Daniel, humans will go to extinction. Don't be afraid of the Fairy King and he will protect you,"said the Empress still in water.
"Can you tell me his name? "asked Amayra.
"I would lose my tongue,all supernatural species are spellbound not to say his name even the evil ones, "said Empress Charday.
"Really? "asked Amayra groaning .
"He's coming, "said the Empress in wary.
"Who? "asked Amayra as the Empress went deeper in the water. "Come on. "Amayra kicked the stones only for her to hurt her toes.
"Helllo Ayra, "said a voice behind causing her to stumble back and fall in the water. King Azarioth couldn't stop laughing as he took her out of the water.
"You are a jerk, "said Amayra hitting his chest.
"Well Ayra it's not my fault, I was born this way, "said King Azarioth. "I came here to apologize for my temper. "
"It's okay, I was also being dramatic, "trembled Amayra. King Azarioth's wings glowed in red.
"Come here, "said King Azarioth.
"Why? "asked Amayra.
"To keep you warm, "said King Azarioth as the wings scooped her.Amayra couldn't help but snuggled to the warmth the wings gave her. King Azarioth just chuckled softly.
"I can sleep over and over again, "grinned Amayra.
"Anytime Ayra "said King Azarioth.
"Don't call me that, "said Amayra.
"You need to change otherwise you will be sick, "said King Azarioth.
"My clothes are at home, "said Amayra. Soon she felt something different on her. Dry pants and polo neck.She looked at him shocked.
"I'm a fairy, "said King Azarioth.
"Wow that is just wow, "said Amayra blinking sleepily. One of the feathers brushed her face causing her to giggle. King Azarioth watched her play with the feathers until she felt sleepy. The feathers wrapped around her like a blanket .She was asleep in his wings. He removed her from the wings and wrapped his arms around her. Then he flew over the river slowly with her snuggling on him.
