"Annalise, tell me what you remember."
Annalise could just make out the last time it was just her family together, love in the air as they played in the gardens behind the large cottage they owned. It was like she could hear her mother's laughter as her father peppered her with feather like kisses.
She remembers him chasing her as well, giggling and screaming as she ran away. Her older sister watched from afar as Annalise was scooped into her fathers arms, a squeal erupting from her throat. Annalise could almost feel the love radiating from those old and precious memories.
But, they weren't always good.
When Annalise was no older than eleven, something terrifying happened to her late one night, and that's when everything changed. She can still make out the nightmare like it happened only days ago.
"Anna, be quite you'll get us in trouble!" Silvia whispered harshly at the eleven year old, scolding the young girl. Anna tried to hide her giggles while sticking her tongue out in a teasing manner.
The two sisters gently walked down the old stairs, cringing every time a squeak sounded loudly. It was around dusk, and Annalise begged Silvia to play with her in the garden, not having gone out during the night once before.
Though, it was more of a curiosity role for Annalise as their Father would tell them to not be up as the first signs of Twilight arose. Annalise would pout but obey none the less. That was until that very night. Annalise loved the darkness and would be devastated whenever her Father would put down her request to go on a midnight stroll.
Silvia was different. She obeyed her Father as well as respected his decisions. She knew far more than Annalise did at the time. She heard the stories townspeople told to one another about werewolves and even demons. Silvia even had her small encounter at the market when she was younger, having seen a woman screaming at the stake as crowds submerged around her.
She knew that woman, or suppose have seen the woman. Her name was Joan of Arc and she was accused on several accounts of Witchcraft. Silvia believed in it though, she was scared of the so called supernatural beings roaming the world. But even with that silent agreement she made with herself, Annalise's annoying, nagging made her give in.
The girls made it towards the back door, Silvia putting her finger up to her mouth as a gesture to be quite. Annalise didn't make a sound as Silvia unlocked the doors, opening it slowly to make less of a noise. Once the door was fully open, they both made their way outside into the cool air.
A shiver escaped Annalise as goosebumps arose on her fragile arms and legs. A wide grin made its way onto her face anyways, though.
