"Pick five cards and simply don't feel pressured to chose one."Annalise nodded slightly and felt herself wander towards the one in the middle, pulling the large card from the spread out stack. Closing her eyes she let her hand guide her once again, almost as if she wasn't even choosing them at all. She almost felt as if an unknown entity was guiding her.
She then pulled out her last card hesitantly, feeling a certain dread sit at the bottom of her stomach. Kira watched her every move, analyzing her reaction carefully. Her mother always told her to make sure everything seemed fine, and they didn't have a certain look in their eyes as if they knew something she didn't.
But, when Annalise picked the last card she watched as a gleam of something passed in her eyes. It wasn't one of realization, but simply of alarm. Annalise let her hand rest at her sides, now her turn to watch Kira's ever move. Kira gently picked up the first chosen one, turning it over gently.
A simple and plain card with only a single design was shown to the two girls. It was of a circle with outward arrows coming from the center. Eight of the arrows to be exact, and all of them the same length apart and the same size.
"Chaos." Kira said while gently grazing her hand over the card, eyes closing as she did. "It represents darkness and destruction that will sought you out, eventually turning you to the chaos it seeks."
Quickly and smoothly she flipped the second card over. A brown wheel was on it with different symbols in the corners of it. Clouds were drawn around the wheel with bird like creatures.
"Fate." Kira pointed at the wheel while tracing her finger on it clockwise. "It represents change like a wheel going down a dirt road. It's bound to hit a few bumps. Possibly a new found destiny moment to come about."
The third one was then flipped over with a Fox on it, it's head turned to look at the figures behind it. A woman and man leant against a tree, close together while a snake crawled up the tree beside the boy. Annalise looked at Kira for a second waiting for her to speak but she didn't. Instead Kira seemed to falter with her finger lingering on the Fox.
"Sorry, uh temptation." Kira spoke before Annalise could, their gazes meeting. Annalise didn't pay any mind to her change in behavior as she was too eager to know the rest. "You'll be tempted to do things with another that might appeal vulgar at this time but too good to resist in the future. Especially with that certain one."
The fourth card was flipped and Annalise was positive Kira didn't even touch the card. Annalise looked at Kira but her head was down enough for her eyes to be hidden while her fingers moved over the card, not meeting Annalise's honey filled ones.
The card was a man and woman both showing their girth. Above them arose a tree with flames emerging from the branches. Annalise watched as Kira then met her eyes, her once black eyes now full with a fiery flame.
"The Lovers." Annalise was in shock as Kira's eyes continued to glow, but she seemed to not have noticed it herself. "Lust and sexual energy will be intertwined. It's like a soulmate but much more. It also represents more that just physical attraction, it represents a certain vulnerability attraction between the two like-the red string of fate ... "
Annalise found herself intoxicated in the sight of Kira's aurora as a glowing flame seemed to make its way around her whole body. Not paying a single glance at the cards as it was the last thing on her mind.
"Kira-"
"What the hell?" Annalise was broke out of trance as the last card was floating in the air by itself. Annalise's heart raced as the card was on full view for her to see.
It was of a man dressed in all black attire with dark wings stretched out as wide as the card was. His back was turned but she noticed the familiar body structure of the man in the woods. She felt her heart pick up even more as every single card lifted into the air within a matter of seconds.
Just then, they all fell to the ground upright, in a line with the same drawing as the last card. Annalise then watched as Kira stood up abruptly, her body fully aflame in a magic like aurora. Kira seemed to sense it because she brought her hand towards her face, looking at the magic that consumed itself onto her body.
"Haha!" Kira screamed loudly for her Mother while her body began to take uneven breathes, gasps coming from her mouth. Within seconds her Mother and Father were in the room, a staff in her Fathers hand.
They seemed to stop and take in what was happening in the room. The Tarot cards scattered while Kira was consumed in the red flame. Her Mother rushed to Kira's side, trying to calm her daughter down.
"Child, have I not warned you of the power these cards possess!" Kira's Mother told her daughter before turning to Annalise with a frightful look in her eyes. "Leave immediately Annalise. For your own safety."
Annalise felt Kira's Father tug on her shoulder gently pulling her out of the room until Kira's frightened form wasn't in site any longer. Annalise didn't turn to look at the man, but opened their front door before closing it, rushing outside. Annalise didn't know where she was going but she couldn't be in the village for a second longer.
