"Being talked about, but not being invited to join the conversation, is just wonderful," Will says as the two of you head towards the kitchen.

"Yeah, but you probably don't want to hear what they're saying anyway. Let's not think about that for now."

You reach the kitchen immediately head to the pantry, scanning the shelves for snacks. "Do you have any idea if you need food now that you're physical?" you ask.

"I doubt it," Will says. "I think I can still eat; I just don't need to for survival."

You pull a box of Chipackers from the pantry and bring it over. "I'd say you were lucky, but I'm pretty attached to food, so I don't mind needing it to live." You set the box on the table with a thunk and sit down in a chair. "Try these."

Will sits down across from you and pulls the Chipackers box towards himself. "Just take one and put it in my mouth, right?"

"Right. Savor the taste, then chew, swallow, and repeat."

Will shakes his head. "Interesting how much time humans spend making sure their necessary sustenance is pleasurable." He opens the box, taking out a cracker and inspecting it.

Then he pops the cracker in his mouth.

You watch as he chews. His eyes widen, then close as he savors the cracker. He lets out a happy "mmmmm."

He swallows. "Wow. No wonder you guys are so obsessed with food. That was amazing!" He reaches for another one.

"And that's just the beginning. This is just snack food. Just wait until you try my mom's tuna casserole."

Will laughs. "The adults are probably out there trying to figure out how to defeat me, and we're talking about food."

"Food is awesome."

He shrugs. "Can't argue with that."

The two of you stay in there for a while, eating and talking and trying not to think about the conversation going on about you. After a while, there's a cough from the door, and you turn.

"So, have you introduced him to the wonders of food?" Pacifica asks, coming over and leaning against the counter.

You blush a little at her repetition of your words — they were kind of dramatic, weren't they. "Yep."

Will turns to Pacifica with a cool, but also rather stiff, posture. "So. What's the verdict."

She sighs. "We're not your enemies, Will."

"Oh, really? How silly of me to think you were. You three certainly never did anything to appear that way."

You put a hand on his arm.

"We're simply worried that you might become ours," Pacifica explains. "But, for now, we've decided that it would be alright for you to stay with us. Dipper. . . he still wants to find a way to prevent anything from happening."

"Of course he does."

"He's always had a hard time with trust. But Wendy and I think he's right to be cautious for once."

You'd rather get off this topic, so you grab Will's hand and shoot him a grin. "This is great, Will, you can stay with us!"

He smiles back, but you can tell it takes some effort.

"Can we go, then? Will and I can go out and get in the car if you give us the keys."

Pacifica hesitates, and you roll your eyes. "Will's not going to steal the car, Mom."

She sighs and tosses you the keys. "I'll be out in a minute."

You translate that to I'll be out in forever and a day, because adult conversations take that long, and stand up. "Let's go, then!"

You and Will head out the door and go to get in the car. You put the key in the ignition, and the car rumbles to life. It takes about ten minutes — forever and a day — before Pacifica comes out and gets behind the wheel.

As you drive home, you look out the window up at the stars. You've always appreciated them, but now they seem even more beautiful. More magical. You glance over at Will, who's also peering out at the starry night sky. You can't even imagine this being your first time ever seeing them.

When you pull into your driveway, you hop out and spread your arms, presenting the house to Will. "Ta-da! Our summer home."

Will gets out of the car and looks up at it. "It looks nice."

You frown. He sounds hesitant. "What's wrong?"

Will shakes his head with a chuckle. "I just. . . I just realized something. I don't actually know if I can sleep."

You blink. "Oh. Um. . . do you wanna try?"

He shrugs. "Sure, might as well. And if it doesn't work, I'll just come out and stargaze."

"The entire night?" You lead him up the front steps. "I mean, I love stargazing, but doing it that long sounds boring to me."

"Nothing is boring when you're experiencing it for the first time."

Still sounds like it would get boring after an hour or so. But you shrug and head inside.

"Well, I don't know about you," Pacifica says once you're all inside, "but I'm ready for some shut-eye."

You stifle a yawn. "Yeah. It's been a long day."

Pacifica glances at Will. "We don't have a guest room, so I'm afraid you'll have to sleep on the couch."

"That's fine," Will says. "Though fair warning, I may not even be able to sleep."

It suddenly hits you. Will is really staying here. There's a boy staying at your house. And not just any boy, a magical one who might not even need to sleep.

This was not how you expected the day to go when you woke up this morning.

"Yasmin, you go up and get ready for bed," Pacifica says. "I'll get blankets for Will."

"O-okay." You head to your room and get in pajamas, your hands shaking a bit as you change.

You're in the middle of brushing your teeth when you realize that you won't dream about Will tonight. You won't have dreams with him ever again, because he's here in reality now. You don't just have to wait until the next time he shows up in your dreams. You can just hang out with him whenever you want.

Once you're done getting ready, you go back to the living room, where Pacifica set up a makeshift bed on the couch. "You think you're going to be alright?" you ask Will.

"Should be," he says. He takes your hands in his. "I know I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but thank you, Yasmin. Really. I'm physical, I'm away from those monsters, I have a place to stay while we figure things out. All thanks to you."

He gives you a long, tight hug.

Once he pulls away, you smile up at him. "You're welcome," you say. "Well. . . I'm off to bed. Here's hoping you can sleep, huh?"

He smiles back. "Here's hoping. Good night, Yasmin."

"Night."

You say good night to your mother, thanking her for letting Will stay, and then go off to your room. You pull down the covers and get in, pulling them up over yourself.

You don't turn off your lamp quite yet. Instead, you stare at the blank wall across the room for a minute, your brain trying to sort out everything that happened today. Stealing the dimension hopper, exploring an entirely different dimension, meeting different versions of your mother and Mabel, saving Will, and then dealing with the aftermath of Dipper's disappointment.

Eventually you turn off the lamp, plunging the room into darkness, and lay back on your pillow.

What a day.
