Leah's POV
"So that's all I know mom every dirty detail," Liz confided in me while she sat on the counter eating some chips.
"How long has Sky you know … God I can't even say it." I looked over to Lizzie and she snorted humorously. I couldn't believe one of my daughters seemed to be infatuated with a man almost my age, but then again look at the difference of age between Edward and me.
"Sky's been crushing on Jake since … I want to say since we looked about eight. He told her he didn't want her about a month or so ago and she just can't get past it." I huffed and thought carefully before speaking again. My girls looked older, about thirteen or fourteen, but hey most definitely not fully grown yet but I understood they felt older than they actually were.
"Sky hasn't talked about any of this with me but make sure she knows Jake watched her grow up. It's bound to be awkward for him knowing that she has romantic feelings for him. I know it's a little hard for me to process. If she truly feels like she loves him and it's not a crush she needs to wait until she is grown to pursue him." I handed my daughter a coke and took a couple of chips from her bag.
"She knows that," Liz muttered but then an odd look came over her face. "Mom, is it weird that … I mean … Sky and I are identical," Liz stated and I looked at her confused.
"Yeah, I know I was there when you were born," I teased and she glared at me. It was weird whenever they made that face I felt they looked just like me. It was a little creepy, it was like staring at a clone or an outside of your body experience. "What's up Elizabeth what's on your mind?"
"Nothing important. I'll figure it out," she snapped apparently annoyed and went to storm out of the back door.
"Just an FYI if you phase right now I will too and I'm going to get a very clear understanding of whatever it is that's bothering you. So you might as well just spill the beans." She turned back to me and a look of discomfort covered her face.
"I was just wondering why we don't think the same. She's into all that romance stuff and I personally still think it's a bit gross. I get its logical function it's a chemical reaction you have to someone and when you're lustful it's a sign you're old enough to reproduce but I … think the whole process is a little animalistic and unnecessary," she confessed timidly. I tried my best not to burst into laughter but the look on my daughter's face was priceless. I wrapped my arms around her and rocked her. I was personally relived that she wasn't having those thoughts yet. One is enough and it still pissed me off that Sky didn't feel close enough to me to talk about these things.
"I didn't think about boys until I was in high school. I met a guy and he changed my mind. Don't think that just because you haven't had a crush yet that there's something wrong with you. You and Sky have identical DNA but you are two completely different people. Always remember that Liz." My daughter nodded and squeezed me tighter. Edward and Emmett strolled into the kitchen and Liz pulled away from me. She tried to discretely wipe her tears but her father was too quick not to notice. I knew he was reading the situation and he knew I had it handled.
"Hello wife," he said playfully before greeting me with a kiss on the cheek and then offering our daughter the same.
"You okay?" Liz nodded but it was clear she was still a little off her game.
"Yeah. I'm going out for a run and then I plan to hunt down Mr. Call for a Zombie Killer rematch. I'll seeya later daddy!" Liz practically sprinted out of the house. She hated for her dad to see her in any pain because she knew he would aggressively try to find a solution. There was no solution for this she just had to be patient with herself.
"Have you checked on Sky?" Edward asked me and drew me away from my thought of Liz.
"Yeah, for as much as she will allow me to. She's heartbroken and I can't fix that only time can heal those wounds. She may be more open with you though." I pulled her lunch out of the fridge and popped it into the microwave. "She didn't eat lunch." I handed him her plate and he went upstairs. I listened as he knocked and told her to let him in. The door opened it was further than I'd gotten with Sky all day. I strolled into the living room and grabbed my phone off the coffee table. I knew that if Edward couldn't make it better I needed to get in contact with the one person that could.
"Hey," Jake muttered. I was surprised he answered so quickly.
"Hey … so my daughter?" I asked and he let out a deep breath.
"What do you mean you're daughter?" He huffed and I heard him moving something around. "Your daughter is the reason that I'm sitting here bored as hell right now!" Now I was really confused. "Why isn't it possible for her and me to just be friends? She had to go and make things inappropriate. She's a child albeit a very bright and mature child, but a child none the less."
"I know that Jacob, but you do have to realize she's growing up at an alarming speed. It's normal for Skylar to have a little crush on you. I think you should be flattered and try to make amends with her and not avoid her like the plague." We were both silent for a moment.
"I can't do that," he muttered regrettably. I was scared to ask why he felt that way.
"So why not hang out with Embry, Collin, or Quil if you're so bored? You could even go on a date … I mean you're not ugly Jake I'm sure you could find someone pretty easily," I advised him.
"Mom!" I heard my daughter yell and she ran down the stairs and pulled my phone from my hand. "Why would you say that? Are you trying to ruin my life?" In her fit of rage she crushed my phone with her hand.
"I was just trying to make it better Sky," I said calming as I noticed that she had started to shake.
"Well don't … just don't." She stormed out of the front door. Both my daughter's had ran out of the house and weren't in the best of spirits. I couldn't help but blame myself. Maybe I should've just left well enough alone.
