The crowd was cheering, the noise was deafening: and all five of us were loving every second of it. The way the noise echoed in our heads; they were here for the five of us, it pumped up our already inflated confidence, our fans were here to mark our one hundredth concert since the XFactor. There was no way that we could mess it up, the butterflies were gone even if it was only for now.
The crew were running around us, getting everything ready for the biggest event of our careers so far. Tonight’s concert was meant to beat everything else we have done, the lights, the sounds, the interactions, everything would be bigger, better. Everyone knew that a mistake could cost them their jobs. We could afford no mistakes or slip-ups. Tonight, we had to be perfect for the fans.
The lights dimmed, the show was about to start. I saw Harry shake out his hands to the right of me; all of us were trying to erase the last signs of our pre-concert nerves. His hands made their way up to his mop of curly brown hair, slightly pulling at the edges. Louis was jumping from one foot to another, Niall was munching on a handful of crisps and Zayn was staring out into midair deep in thought each of them preparing in their own way.
Time seemed to slow down as the curtains were pulled back and the stage started too light up. I ran out all of my nerves evaporating as my feet pounded against the stage. I stopped right in the middle of the stage and waved to the large crowd, the screaming picking up and the shouts of mine and the guys names.
The music for One Thing started giving me a few seconds to catch my breath. The volume was louder than it had ever been before; the mic was matched so when the opening lrics started to roll off of my tongue it echoed around the arena. The crowd picked up their sound so that they could still be heard over the loud music.
“I’ve tried playing it cool,” The concert blew by after that first line and now it was time for us to answer twitter questions. The screen lit up behind me, the first three questions were the normal ones, who takes the longest to get ready? Which member is the most likely to get lost in the mall? Is Larry Stylinson real? It was time for the last question of the night rather quick in my mind, though this part of the concert usually moved really fast since we were all tired. The screen changed to show the picture of a girl around our age; pitch black waist length hair and stunning blue eyes framed in heavy lashes. The message below was short but what it read was unusual for the concert questions.
‘@onedirection, it would mean the world to me if you could pray for my family, you lads have the means to reach millions.’ It was short but it left me thinking over every little detail of what could have happened. I turned to the crowd quickly asking them to spare a minute for this girl as she had asked. The arena was silent for a minute before the screaming slowly began to creep back in.
“Have a good night everyone! We hope that you had a great time tonight!” Louis closed the concert for us and we jogged backstage; the screams following at our backs. That tweet was on my mind throughout the whole signing, I couldn’t focus on any of the fans; I smiled for pictures and idly answered their questions. The other lads kept shooting me concerned looks, I was never like this after a concert. I tried to snap out of it for right now and just focus on these fans but it was near impossible.
After what seemed like forever the signing was finally finished and the lads and I were getting into the car that would take us to our hotel nearby. I stared dreamily out the window thoughts of that girl dancing around my mind. I think that the lads were trying to talk to me but I couldn’t be sure; I couldn’t pull myself out of my thoughts.
I was pulled out of my coma like state by cold ice water being sprayed on my face. My head shot up and looked around the car to see Louis looking very proud of himself across from me, a water bottle in his hand. If looks could kill Louis would have been murdered ten times over by now.
